Last week, we had the pleasure of delivering a talk to the Year 1 pupils at The Vale Primary School! The children asked such thoughtful and insightful questions about what it’s like to be professional artists. We’re so excited to see the colourful artwork they create over the coming weeks, inspired by our work!

Our favourite moments are seeing just how excited and inspired they become, especially when they discover the possibilities and opportunities that exist to pursue what you love as an adult! 😍

Stella (one half of Two Faced Twins):
"As some of you know... I work with my twin sister creating striking, colourful artwork for contemporary homes. I create the drawings, and then she brings them to life with colour digitally.

While we continue to create work in our signature style, we’re also both branching out and exploring our own individual artistic practices. It’s been fascinating to reconnect with the kind of work I naturally gravitated towards when I was growing up.

My work has always had a slightly mysterious, atmospheric feel to it, with lots of black ink and pen on white paper. My sister Gem studied Fashion and Textiles 15 years ago, and she has always loved creating bold, abstract pieces full of colour, texture and patterns.

We’re currently each creating individual works inspired by our own styles, with the aim of combining them digitally to produce an entirely new collection of prints for our gallery.

We’re both incredibly excited to explore this new way of working. It’s allowing us to reconnect with different parts of our creativity while bringing something fresh to our collaborative practice.

We have some news… Gem is expecting a baby! 🥳🩷

Not sure how many of you have already clocked it from watching our stories, I don’t think she’s been doing a very good job of hiding it! 😂

Excitingly, my nephew is due in just a matter of weeks, so it’s a really busy time at the moment getting everything prepared, whilst also enjoying running our new creative membership Face it: You're an Artist - Members' Private Group

(Members - You may well be seeing a baby joining in on the weekly workshops very soon!!) 👶

We also wanted to let you know that, because of our news, we won’t be able to run our summer event this year. It's just not realistic! But don’t worry, the event will be back in full force next summer! 🌞

☀️🩷 NEW LIMITED EDITION PRINT! 🏖🌞

This is our brand new Brighton Pier piece of art and we couldn’t be happier with it!

We wanted this to feel like one of our signature pier pieces 💛 One of the things we love most about creating pier scenes is the contrast between the straight architectural lines of the pier and the beautiful, flowing swirls of the sea.

That contrast feels like such a signature part of our style, and it always brings a sense of movement into the piece 🌊

When we imagine this artwork in a home, we picture it sitting above a sofa, where the long panoramic shape feels completely at home. The colours bring lots of energy into a room, while the starlings drifting overhead add a sense of calm and movement 🧡 It really feels like a piece that carries a little bit of the seaside indoors 😍

Earlier this week I went on a ‘mindfulness walk’, taking in the details of my surroundings and appreciating things I wouldn’t normally notice. I took photos of all the small details that inspired me - textures, colours, patterns, and shadows 🌞

The purpose of the walk was to collect inspiration in preparation for our creative workshop on Monday, which I’m really looking forward to!! (This is also this week’s creative challenge for our members ✨)

Afterwards, I went back to the studio and started designing the workshop, making sure everything would run smoothly for our members. To do this, I actually took part in the workshop myself and ended up creating some beautiful abstract patterns! 💛 Here are a couple of examples inspired by the things I discovered on my walk 🥰

I used an A5 sketchbook, which is unusual for me as I generally work on a much larger scale - usually A3. But working in a mini sketchbook was so satisfying! It felt far less intimidating, and I’m really enjoying filling it with designs inspired by nature 🌿

Hi everyone! I’m Gemma, a professional artist, one half of Two Faced Twins, and co-creator of Face It: You’re an Artist.

I love expressing creativity through my personal style and fashion, putting together retro, colourful outfits is one of my favourite ways to do that day to day.

Alongside my art practice, I also explore creativity in lots of other ways, from textile design to interior styling and decorating my home.

What I’m really enjoying most right now is building this community of creatives, supporting each other to live more joyful, free, expressive, and creative lives! ✨

Creating this Brighton pier piece of art was a real labour of love 💜 We had a tricky challenge to overcome because Brighton pier is so long... and I mean REALLY long!

We had to use some artistic licence and carefully choose which sections to include so that we could fit the whole pier onto the page.

It's a panoramic piece, but from experience, it can only be so long before it starts to look too stretched and thin. So we focused on keeping the most eye-catching and recognisable parts of the pier in.

This is a fantastic piece of art that will light up the homes of everyone who chooses to own a piece! 🤩
