Meet Charlotte Bridgewater, the 2024 TCT x Sanjay Mortimer Foundation Rising Star.

Charlotte studies Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering at Newcastle University, and is designing "TuCan," an assistive device to help people with poor grip strength open drink cans. An autistic, resilient engineer in an underrepresented field, her prize was a mod0 printer, only the third of its kind ever made.

Huge congratulations to Charlotte, and to Sanjay Mortimer Foundation - SMF for championing neurodivergent talent in engineering.

Say hello to Abigail Duckworth, the 2025 TCT x Sanjay Mortimer Foundation Rising Star.

Despite having undiagnosed ADHD at the time, Abigail researched lattice structures for arthritis support at Loughborough University, work that was published in peer-reviewed papers and showcased at AM Meets Medicine 2021. As an SMF Rising Star, she now has access to ongoing funding, mentorship, training and a community of fellow Stars.

Congratulations, Abigail, and thank you to Mortimer Foundation - SMF for the work they do.

We caught up with Zac Smith, the very first ever TCT x Sanjay Mortimer Foundation Rising Star, to hear his story.

Recognised in 2023 for his creativity, curiosity and potential to help shape the future of engineering, Zac praised his school teachers and Sanjay's own influence in his acceptance speech, and took home a Prusa MK4 printer as his prize.

Massive respect to Zac, and to Sanjay Mortimer Foundation - SMF for the incredible work they do supporting neurodivergent young people in engineering and 3D printing.
