Jessie McMeekin Storytelling

Jessie McMeekin Storytelling I'm a storyteller based in Cumbria. Storytelling is the art of telling stories from memory, not read from books. It's spellbinding and technology-free.

It's part of an ancient oral tradition where stories were handed down from generation to generation.

I was having so much fun telling stories and seeing all the other wonderful stalls at Cumbria Nature Festival yesterday that I forgot to take any photos apart from these beautiful new murals at Rivendell. What a fabulous festival- especially for the first year! Congratulations to everyone involved

Hoping to use this as a beautiful space for storytelling in years to come💚 It was worth all the brain-ache of trying to get the weaving pattern right while we were building it! Congratulations Cumberlandia and

Thank you to everyone who helped to write, create and perform the storytelling performances at the Imagine Festival in Whitehaven this past weekend, put on by Everyone Here . I so enjoyed working with you all, I'm sorry I didn't manage to get photos with everyone! It was so inspiring seeing the creativity on display at all the different venues. It was a lovely thing to be part of!

I've had a wonderful time at the Imagine Festival today, helping the amazing Nanette Madan with her installation Outside In at the The Rum Story - Official (my top tip - ask someone if you can put your hand in the Green Man's mouth!). We've done two performances of the stories that we've been co-creating with community groups in Flimby, Cleator Moor and Mirehouse. One more performance tomorrow.
It's been wonderful working with all these brilliant people. Thank you to Everyone Here for making it happen!

I found this wonderful book in the reading room at National Galleries of Scotland last weekend. Seeing Louise Bourgeois's enormous and beautiful sculpture poised delicately on the tiniest points of the spider's feet gave me such a strange feeling. Like the whole world was teetering a bit. And she made her first giant spider at the age of 87. How incredibly awesome! Thank you for providing space to pause and reflect. It made my visit.

Such a great project to be part of - thank you to everyone who was involved!
