This fantastic collar in progress was sent to us by Janet in the UK. Her note that came with the photo explains "The collar is designed by J Hornsey dated 1857, from Barbara Underwood’s book A Bedfordshire Lace Collection".
Originally sent to us a year or so ago, before our original page vanished into the ether, we recently asked if we could share it again so all our new followers have the chance to see it! Pics of the finished piece to follow soon...😄
The left corner of the first photo includes a pair of painted Caterpillar bobbins on Janet's pillow. We first made these for a Lace Suppliers Spotlight Sale a few years ago - we haven't made very many of these and we did them in a range of different colours. The 3rd photo shows 3 of the matching dividers we did at the same time, we've never put them into a catalogue.

Flowers everywhere on these bobbins, perfect for for a blustery Thursday. It's been blowing old boots here in the west of the UK today and the flowers in the garden are dancing like there's no tomorrow. Our poor rose has been blown off the fence but these floral bobbins are all safe and sound on their pillows by now😊

Inspiration for our Dizzy Mother & Babe bobbins! The Aubretia is putting on a show here in our garden and sitting down for a quick a cup of coffee one day back in 2010 we looked at the masses of tiny flowers and thought... "They need to be on a bobbin!" They have been in our catalogue ever since. Maybe we need to do a blue one and a red one?

There are many ways to use a divider pin! Janet in the UK sent us these 2 photos of her pillow which shows one of her Archer long handled dividers being put to use as a thread delivery system, alongside her Archer bobbins. Brilliant😄

What a beautiful match! Jenny in Australia sent the photo of her wonderful bone bobbin pillow to us recently which is on our page below this, a couple of posts down, and she's also sent us this delightful photo of the bookmark she made around the time the photo was taken. It isn't the exact same one on the pillow in her initial photo but she says its very similar and we thinks it's gorgeous🦋
Jenny says "The butterfly bookmark is an example of adding extra bobbins of colour as weavers which are then removed on completion of butterfly . I have many bookmarks made this way and really enjoy the technique."
We also think it's a match made in heaven for our Kaleidoscope bobbins - couldn't be more perfect!

Majestic! Janet in the UK has sent this photo of her set of Majestic bobbins, she's spangled them beautifully and they're ready for action😁
All our bobbins are made by hand using hand selected English bone that we source, prepare and cut ourselves. It's finest quality English cattle bone but Ben's very picky and we only use the best of the sticks that we cut each day!
