💚 A little Worcester Crafty Club pause this weekend…

Apologies if things are a little quiet on here for a few days — my son (my first born ) is getting married tomorrow ! 🥰

It’s our first family wedding in 28 years, so as you can imagine, Crafty Club is taking a little back seat while we soak it all up.

But don’t worry… we’ll be back very soon.

And we have some very exciting Worcester Crafty Club Christmas workshop news coming your way 🎄✨

Watch this space… Baubles & Bubbles is nearly ready to be revealed! 🥂🎄

🌿 Another workshop tried by Worcester Crafty Club…Willow With Jo 💚

This afternoon Angie and I headed to Bransford Community Farm for a willow weaving workshop from 2pm–5pm.

We arrived in the pouring rain, under a Dutch barn, wrapped up in jumpers and waterproofs… which seemed to be on and off for most of the afternoon 🤣

We were joined by two of our friends, four other lovely ladies and, of course, Willow Jo, who expertly guided us through the process of making a willow flower.

Now… is willow weaving tough on the hands?

Oh yes.

I don’t mind telling you that Peter Pointer is feeling a little bit angry tonight 😂

And I’ll be honest, willow definitely has a mind of its own at times… and those pointy tools used to split it could be lethal in the wrong hands!

At one point I also decided that willow weaving really ought to be an Olympic discipline 🤣

But the afternoon was just perfect.

Lots of laughs, plenty of innuendos, lots of concentration and, by the end of it, eight gorgeous willow flowers had been made.

We were all absolutely chuffed with ourselves 😊

A really lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon at Bransford Community Farm.

🌸 Show & Tell time! 🌸

Just look at these gorgeous Blooming Lovely birdbaths created at our recent Worcester Crafty Club mosaic workshops! 🥰

Same idea, but every single one completely different — different colours, flowers, patterns and lots of lovely little details. That’s exactly what we love about crafting: there’s no right way to make something your own.

And as Dolly Parton says…

✨ “You’ll never do a whole lot unless you’re brave enough to try.” ✨

We think our ladies did a pretty fabulous job of trying! 💕

Which one catches your eye? 🌸🐝

🌸 WORCESTER CRAFTY CLUB SHOW & TELL 🌸

The first finished mosaics from our weekend at Bransford Community Farm are starting to come in… and we couldn’t wait any longer to share them! 😍

This is one of our favourite parts — seeing everything once it’s been grouted and finished at home.

Same workshop.
Same materials.
Same guidance.

And yet every single one looks completely different. 💚

That’s exactly what we love about these workshops. We give everyone the techniques, demonstrations and a little structure to work from, then they make it their own with their choice of colours, layout and finishing touches.

And look at these results!

From soft florals to bolder colour combinations, bird baths to flower pops — there are some really beautiful pieces here.

A huge well done to everyone who joined us over the weekend. We’re so pleased with what you created and absolutely love seeing the finished pieces coming through. 🥰

“You’ll never do a whole lot unless you’re brave enough to try.”
— Dolly Parton 💚

We think that sums up Crafty Club rather nicely.

And if you haven’t sent us your finished photo yet… keep them coming!

We LOVE a Worcester Crafty Club Show & Tell. 😂💚

🌻 Well… what a weekend! 🌻

Today was our second of two mosaic workshops Bransford Community Farm and we’re finishing the weekend tired, happy and very proud of what everyone achieved.

Another 14 lovely ladies joined us today, quite a few of them familiar faces from previous Worcester Crafty Club workshops, which is always so nice to see. 💚

Between them they created:

🐝 12 mosaic bird baths
🌸 2 flower pops

And once again, the results were fabulous.

We’ve also started receiving photos of the first grouted bird baths from yesterday’s workshop… and wow! 😍
(First Birdbath reveal in comments)

It’s amazing what a difference the grout makes and we absolutely love seeing the finished pieces once people get them home.

We’ve had some really lovely comments and messages over the weekend too, and honestly, they mean such a lot to us.

We put a huge amount of thought, planning and preparation into these workshops, so hearing that people have enjoyed themselves, felt supported and gone home proud of what they’ve made makes all the hard work worthwhile.

And one thing we’ve both realised this weekend…

Bransford Community Farm really does feel like it could become a bit of a home for Worcester Crafty Club. 🥰

There’s something about the setting, the people and the atmosphere that just works for us.

So looking ahead to next year, you can definitely expect to see Worcester Crafty Club doing a lot more at Bransford Community Farm. 🌻

A huge thank you to Kathy and everyone at Bransford, to all 28 of our crafty clubbers this weekend, and to everyone who popped in to say hello.

What a weekend. 💚

🌻 A day in the life of Worcester Crafty Club… workshop day! 🌻

Today we’ve been Bransford Community Farm, joining in with their Open Studios event.

Angie and I arrived at 8am, just as Kathy was unlocking the gate. It was quite chilly, but the sun was already bright and it was one of those lovely little moments where everything was still, peaceful and full of anticipation for the day ahead.

There was so much going on around the farm. Willow With Jowas busy with her willow weaving and had lots of visitors interested in her workshops and beautiful creations. There was textile art, woodturning, yoga, gorgeous teas, coffees and cakes… and plenty of people making the most of the sunflower fields and picking a few to take home. 🌻

We quickly got ourselves set up just in time for everyone to arrive.

And yes, we know we always say it… but what a fabulous bunch of ladies we had today! 💚

One thing we’re learning more and more is that a really good workshop is a two-way thing. We give the demonstrations, guidance and instructions, but the people attending also teach us so much. They tell us what makes sense, what could be clearer and what would make things easier from their side of the table.

Being able to make a lovely mosaic and being able to teach someone else how to make one are two very different things. We’re still learning, and by listening to the people who come along, we know our workshops will just keep getting better.

And the work today… wow.

They were cutting shapes they’d never cut before, putting together colour combinations that worked beautifully and producing some fantastic results.

We’re not going to reveal the finished bird baths and flower pops just yet — they still need to be grouted first.

But we are VERY excited for a little Worcester Crafty Club style show and tell once they’re finished! 😍

And the best bit? We get to do it all again tomorrow… another 7½ hours of fun (workshop 9.30-1pm) door to door! 😂🌻

So if you’re heading to Bransford tomorrow, why not come over and say hello? We’d love to meet you.

We’ll also have a few of our own handmade mosaics, flower pops and bird baths, along with greetings cards and sea glass pictures, available to buy at very affordable Open Studios prices.

Come and have a look, see what we’re up to and introduce yourself. 💚

🌸 A BLOOMING LOVELY SUNDAY MORNING! 🌸

A little while ago, I put a shout-out on our Worcester Crafty Club page asking for ideas for a friend’s birthday. She’s a glamorous girl who loves a little bit of luxury, so when I spotted this floral masterclass, it sounded absolutely perfect.

And today we went! 🌸

We joined Flowers By Anna Brian for her Spiral Hand-Tied Bouquet Masterclass at Flora Fields, Webbs Garden Centres 🌺

We started with Anna showing us how to correctly cut the dahlias to help maximise the plants’ flowering capacity. She also explained which blooms to choose — not the very young ones, not those that were past their best, but the ones that were just right. 🌸

Then, armed with our buckets and secateurs, we headed out into the dahlia field.

We had half an hour to choose and cut 20 stems each.

Sounds easy, doesn’t it?

You have NO idea how difficult it is when you’re surrounded by 65+ different varieties of dahlias! 😂 Every time you think you’ve found your favourite, another one catches your eye.

By the end of our half hour it was definitely starting to warm up, so we headed back into the marquee for a very welcome, refreshing glass of Prosecco. 🥂

Anna then demonstrated how to create a spiral hand-tied bouquet before we had a go at creating our own, combining our freshly picked dahlias with a gorgeous selection of British-grown seasonal flowers and foliage.

Everything felt really relaxed and unhurried, with plenty of flowers to choose from, all the tools and materials provided, and Anna on hand to guide us when needed.

And, of course, there was cake and coffee too. ☕️🍰

At £65 for 2½ hours, including picking your own dahlias, tuition, all your additional flowers and foliage, Prosecco, cake and drinks — plus a beautiful bouquet to take home — we thought it made a really special experience and a fabulous birthday gift.

Definitely one for anyone who enjoys flowers, creativity and a little bit of luxury. 🌸🥂

And yes… my glamorous birthday girl thoroughly approved! 🥰
