This is very exciting news indeed!
============***Announcement***=============
We have some good news and bad news…
It is with great sadness we are having to step away from the Scala project.
Another party is looking to purchase and renovate the building. Something we could never afford to do. Something that will cost millions.
We were looking to renovate the upstairs into a cinema, whereas this other party is looking to renovate the entire building.
It will be amazing for Worcester and the area.
For two years we planned , researched and gained grants (all given back now) in the hope of restoring the cinema, but it is not to be.
Heartbreaking as it is ….here’s the good news… we’re looking into The Gaumont on Foregate St.
The building has a phenomenal history with The Beatles, Hendrix and Cream all playing there at some point.
We hope to reopen it primarily as a music venue, but with Cinema screenings and Q&A’s with actors, comedians and artists as we had planned to do for The Scala.
The celebrities we had lined up for The Scala were fantastic and loved the idea of our non profit. They have all agreed to come to us wherever we end up opening .
I’ll keep you all updated as to the progress of the new project.
Thank you for all your support and messages, over 100,000 of you were interested in The Scala Project , I really hope you can come with us on this journey.
