One of the most admired pairings in our Bevere Gallery Summer Show has been the beautiful dialogue between the ceramics of Lisa Katzenstein and the paintings of Gilly Hemmer. Time and again, visitors have commented on how effortlessly these two artists' works complement one another, creating a display that feels both harmonious and uplifting.
Although they work in different mediums, they share a wonderfully distinctive visual language. Both embrace bold, joyful colour, simplified forms and a stylised approach to everyday subjects, transforming familiar flowers, fruit and vessels into compositions full of character and charm.
Their floral studies are a perfect example. Lisa's hand-painted ceramics celebrate blooms with expressive pattern, vibrant colour and sculptural form, while Gilly's paintings distil flowers into elegant, graphic arrangements that feel both contemporary and timeless. Each artist has a unique interpretation of the natural world, yet together their work creates a harmonious dialogue that feels effortless.
The combination brings warmth, freshness and a real sense of summer to the gallery and it's clear from the wonderful feedback we've received that our visitors are loving it as much as we are.
The Bevere Gallery Summer Exhibition is on until the 31st August.
