We’re delighted to welcome Fern Dawson back to Suckley Festival! How lucky are we?!

We caught up with Fern to find out a little more about her music, life and what she loves about playing at local festivals…

🌲 If you could describe your sound as a place, where would we be?

“Somewhere amongst nature, perhaps a beautiful forest.”

🎿 What’s one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?

Fern is a qualified ski instructor - she trained in New Zealand in 2020!

❤️ What’s your favourite thing about playing at local festivals like Suckley?

“The sense of community and support. Everyone is there to have fun and support one another.”

🎶 What’s one thing you always hope people take away after seeing you perform?

“I hope that people are happy after they’ve listened to me and maybe explore some of the artists that I cover. I rarely perform anymore, so when I do I just want myself and the audience to have fun together.”

And we think that sounds like the perfect festival attitude! ❤️

We can’t wait to welcome Fern back to Suckley Festival. Come along, enjoy the music and have some fun together! 🎵🌿

Save the date: Saturday 19th September 2026 from 3pm - late

We hope you're all enjoying the gorgeous summer weather (and keeping cool).

Now we're heading fast towards August, can you believe there's less than 9 weeks to go until Suckley Festival?! 🎉

Over the coming weeks, we'll be introducing you to some of the fantastic musicians you can enjoy on September 19th. You can get to know them a little better with our 'Meet the Musician' spotlight.

First up are Bright Side of the Spoon who we're delighted to have back with us again this year.

Over to Chris, who kindly shared these fun insights:

Q: If your band had a soundtrack for a perfect summer's day, what would be the first song on it?

A: Probably Sunny Afternoon by the Kinks.

Q: What's the most memorable thing that's ever happened to you at a gig?

A: We did a gig for a military event, secretly learned their "song", then got an amazing reaction to it when we performed it, quite emotional.

Q: If you could share the stage with any artist, past or present, who would it be?

A: Personally, Freddie Mercury, probably some old school rockers, like AC/DC for Dave and Pattie; not sure about our drummer, he has a wide range of tastes.

Q: What can festival-goers expect when they come to see Bright Side of the Spoon at Suckley this year?

A: Hopefully an entertaining hour, a wide range of songs from different genres, and leave you with a smile on your faces.

Q: Complete the sentence: "The best thing about playing live is..."

A: ...seeing the audience having fun.
