Crave Arts News!

I am delighted to announce that Owen Harper is the new Co-Artistic Director for Crave Arts.

Owen and I have worked together for several years now, both through his previous theatre work at Worcester Theatres and also as a freelancer. We also get on which helps! His arrival will move Crave Arts into a more theatre/new writing area which will best reflect what we do as an organisation. We have a new business plan and I can't wait for us to get working together!

I’m very excited to say that I have officially joined Crave Arts, and I’m looking forward to the work Steve and I have planned. It’s been an absolute pleasure to work alongside Crave for the last few years, and I’m very grateful to have the opportunity to continue to develop this work as Crave Arts’ new Co-Artistic Director alongside my friend and colleague Steve Wilson.

I’d also like to say good luck to Debbie Birch on her new role as Head of Cultural Services at Herefordshire County Council. They are very lucky to have you!

Hello everyone. This is a personal post from me, Debbie, one half of Crave Arts, to let you all know that changes are afoot.

Steve and I set up Crave Arts in 2020, just the sort of thing you do during a pandemic 🙂
We worked together to get everything up and running, applied for funding, approached partners and started off delivering our first projects. Since then, we've been so proud to evolve the organisation into one that delivers creative, participatory arts and heritage projects involving a range of artforms, provides consultancy, even devises and delivers training, all whilst working in partnership with some wonderful artists, freelancers and organisations and meeting some brilliant participants too. From Community Living Room to Power of Worcester, and plenty in-between, it's been fantastic 🎉

6 years on, I'll be leaving Crave Arts for new ventures - I'll soon be taking up the post of Head of Culture at Herefordshire Council.
Crave Arts will continue to grow and thrive - more news soon from Steve on a new Director and next steps for the company.

In the meantime, I'd really like to thank Steve, my business partner. It has been a brilliant few years working with you on Crave Arts, Steve. Your creative brain, your passion for delivering high-quality arts always with a sense of fun, and your wise eye for what will work - and what won't - is what makes Crave Arts tick, and will continue to do so. Most of all, I've loved working with Steve because we share the same values (and, sometimes, the same sense of humour 😂).
We'll stay firm friends and I'll keep close to Crave Arts and always champion its role as part of Worcestershire's arts scene.

Thank you everyone for all your support for Crave Arts - and me.

Debbie was the only person I wanted to set Crave Arts up with. We have been on an amazing adventure together and have done so many great projects, working with so many people and communities. Debbie is incredibly professional, meticulous but also a brilliant and fun person to work alongside.
Like all journeys this one has reached its end, but I know we will stay friends and hopefully work more together.
Crave will continue and I am so excited for its future.

We had a really interesting workshop with Ant Stones looking at work which is performed and written for non traditional spaces. This formed part of our Shire Stories programme with Worcester Theatres. Thanks to all those who attended! Our next workshop is writing for film and takes place on Thursday 25th June at The Swan Theatre at 6.30pm.
