Bringing Communities Together

Hook Village Hall is the only hall in the communities of Hook, Greatfield and Greenhill. It hosts many permanent organisations and regular hirers, such as toddler, yoga and dance groups; WI meetings; and Parish Council meetings. Hook Village Hall is managed by Hook, Greatfield and Greenhill Village Hall Charitable Association (Registered Charity No. 305529) which is

a not-for-profit organisation under the leadership of a board of volunteer trustees. The hall is run day-to-day by a small team of friendly, dedicated volunteers. Hook Village Hall’s facilities include a large heated hall (with a small stage), a fully fitted kitchen, a projector screen, toilet facilities, disabled access and a large carpark. Whether it’s sport, craft, hobbies or social, why not take a look at the range of activities on offer at Hook Village Hall or consider it as a space to host your own events?

We would like to apologise sincerely to our neighbours and local residents for the disruption caused by a private booking at Hook Village Hall this evening.

Unfortunately, the event was substantially over-occupied, together with unacceptable and potentially dangerous parking throughout the surrounding residential streets.

The situation ultimately required Police attendance.

We fully appreciate the impact this will have had on those living close to the Hall, particularly any noise, additional traffic and obstruction caused by vehicles. This is not the standard we expect from anyone hiring our Hall, and we are extremely disappointed that the conditions under which the Hall was hired were not respected.

The Committee will be reviewing the circumstances surrounding tonight's booking, and whether further measures are required to prevent a similar situation occurring again.

Hook Village Hall is an important community facility, but being a community venue also means we have a responsibility to our neighbours. We take that responsibility seriously.

We apologise again to everyone affected this evening.

Hook Village Hall is run entirely by volunteers, and we're always keen to hear new ideas and welcome anyone who would like to help ensure the hall continues to thrive for years to come.

It’s with real disappointment that we need to let you know our usual bi-annual Quiz Night won’t be taking place next month.

As many of you know, the hall is run entirely by volunteers, and due to other responsibilities and commitments, we simply don’t have enough hands available to organise this event to the standard you’ve come to expect from us.

Our quiz has become a bit of a village tradition — a brilliant evening of laughter, friendly rivalry and community spirit — so this certainly wasn’t an easy decision.

The good news is this is just a pause, not a stop. We fully intend to return later in the year for our next quiz.

If you would be interested in joining the committee to help run the hall — even just occasionally — we would absolutely love to hear from you. Whether it’s helping to organise events, supporting social media, assisting with administrative tasks, or simply being an extra pair of hands at our events, every bit of support makes a huge difference.
