Native to South America, these striking blue birds are listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List due to habitat loss and the illegal pet trade.‼️

Happy World Crocodile Day 🐊

Today is all about raising awareness for the endangered crocodiles, alligators and gharials that have walked the Earth for over 250 million years.

Out of 26 remaining crocodilian species, several are critically endangered.

Our beautiful false gharials (image one) are endangered species. Our spectacled caimans (image two) and Cuvier dwarf caimans (image three) are of least concern, however it’s still so important that we protect and support this species.

You can show support by coming to say hello to our crocs in our pre-historic beasts area! 🫶

💜 This week, we had the privilege of hosting some of the Big Purple Pants family for a VIP day at the zoo. Trustee, Jenny Green said:

‘Big, big thank you for going that extra mile and making today extra special for the Big Purple Pants family to make special memories. Feeding the penguins and holding an owl has been a very special experience. All the staff today are a credit to Call of the Wild’.
