Langtree Sinfonia is an amateur orchestra which meets at Langtree School, Woodcote, on the borders of Oxfordshire and Berkshire, originally formed in 1971. We have a new musical director from 2022 – Dimitri Chrysostomou. Many members have either started playing as adults, or have taken up their instruments again, having learned when younger. The orchestra has about 30 registered members, althoug

h extra players are co-opted when needed for bigger works. Concerts are given twice a year – a classical programme in November and a more ambitious romantic event in May or June. Concerts are held at churches in various locations including Wallingford, Henley, Abingdon and Caversham.

Trombone, Double basses!
Not long now until our play day on Sunday 22nd February! We are almost sorted with players but would welcome another trombone and a double bass or two. Our venue is at the lovely Shiplake Memorial Hall near Henley on Thames 9.30 am (doors open) - 4.30pm. £15 to include tea, coffee and cake. Langtree Sinfonia invites you to our friendly Orchestra Play Day on Sunday 22nd February 2026 9.30-4.30 near Henley-on-Thames when we will be playing Dvorak's 8th Symphony.

After a long dry summer our rehearsals start again this evening! Don't forget to put 8th November in your diaries for our autumn concert - Vorisek Symphony in D, Mozart Piano Concerto with Anita d’Attellis, and nos. 1, 2, 9 and 10 from Dvorak’s Legends!
