Our Mini Makers sessions return this September with Favourite Tales, bringing together favourite stories, hands-on creative activities, sensory play and plenty of opportunities for little ones to explore, make and create.

Let’s talk about AI. 🤖

After a couple of quite upsetting comments recently about my use of AI in some of Little Art Lab’s promotional graphics, I thought it was time to address the elephant in the room…

Yes, I use AI. 😂

I’m a mum. I run a small creative business. I teach multiple art classes every week. There are only so many hours in the day. I use AI as a tool to help me with some of the business and marketing side of things, particularly when it comes to creating promotional content.

It saves me time. Time that I can spend planning and preparing classes, creating resources, replying to messages, running sessions… and, importantly, spending with my own children.

AI certainly isn’t teaching your children. AI isn’t guiding their ideas. AI isn’t sitting beside them while they experiment, make mistakes, try again and proudly hold up something they’ve created.

That’s me. 💜

The artwork created in my classes is made by real children, with real materials, their own ideas and their own hands. And that human creativity and connection is at the heart of everything I do.

I completely understand why people have concerns about AI and those conversations are important.

But I also believe that using a tool to make one part of running my small business more manageable doesn’t diminish the creativity and care that goes into the work I actually do.

🎨 Storytelling Through Art | Home Ed Art Lab

Our September Home Ed Art Lab unit is now open for bookings! 💜

This term, we’re going on a Storybook Adventure exploring a different story and illustrator each week and discovering how artists use colour, shape, texture, characters and different techniques to bring stories to life.

Children will experiment with drawing, painting, collage, mixed media and more, developing their own artistic skills while taking inspiration from some wonderful stories and illustrators.

But it’s not just about the artwork. Home Ed Art Lab is a relaxed, welcoming space to create alongside other home-educated children, share ideas, try new things and make connections. 🥰

🎨✨ Summer Artist Spotlight! ✨🎨

We’ve had SO many wonderful pieces of art created in our summer holiday sessions and we couldn’t let them go without a little spotlight! 💛

From colourful oil pastel parrots and collage jellyfish to K-pop-inspired canvases and magical Fantastic Beasts, our little artists have been busy experimenting, creating and putting their own unique spin on every project.

There’s been so much creativity and brilliant artwork happening over the holidays and we’re only showing a little bit of it here!

📚 Little Story Explorers is coming! 🎨✨

Our new Tiny Creatives sessions are designed especially for little ones aged 9 months–2 years — a gentle, playful introduction to the world of art and creativity.

Each week, we’ll explore a much-loved children’s story through sensory play, messy making and creative activities with plenty of opportunity for little hands to explore at their own pace. 🖐️

There’ll be something to make and take home, a big collaborative artwork we create together, and we’ll finish each session with bubbles and nursery rhymes. 🫧

Come and create with your little one in a relaxed, welcoming environment. 💛

💜✨ HUNTR/X took over the studio yesterday! 🎶🎨

Our K-pop fans got creative making their very own K-Pop Demon Hunters inspired canvas artwork with bold coloured silhouettes and bits of sparkle. All while listening to the HUNTRIX tunes! 🎶

There were plenty of painty hands, glittery details and some seriously fabulous canvases by the end!

I absolutely loved seeing everyone put their own spin on their artwork. They all did such an amazing job and should very proud of their creations! 🫶

📚✨ A new Young Artists adventure is coming to Little Art Lab…

This September, our Young Artists are stepping into the world of illustration! 🎨

Each week, we’ll discover a different illustrator from the world of classic children’s books, explore their unique style and experiment with a whole range of creative techniques — from drawing and painting to collage and mixed media.

But there’s a special project running through the whole term…

📖 We’re making our very own class book!

Every Young Artist will contribute artwork to our collaborative Storybook Adventures book, which will be showcased alongside their artwork at our end-of-unit exhibition. ✨

A chance to explore, experiment, create and see their ideas become part of something bigger.
