Studio 61

Studio 61 Amateur Theatre in Wolverhampton Studio 61 is an amateur dramatic society based in Wolverhampton.

Originally founded in the 1940s the society was renamed Studio 61 in 1961. We currently rehearse at Bradmore Arms on Trysull Road on Monday and Wednesday evenings. We are fortunate to have the support of a large number of patrons, enabling us to be assured of a regular audience base for whatever we do and are not, like many societies, restricted to well-known ‘crowd pleasers’. Our choice of plays

is down to whatever a member of the society has an enthusiasm for directing, and if, after a read-through, the other members like it, then it is added to the programme. Additionally, we hold an annual Patrons’ evening, when rehearsed readings of exerpts from three plays are performed and the patrons vote for which they would like included in the coming season.

Three couples, longtime friends, set out to walk the Dales Way - eighty miles of natural, wild beauty from Ilkley in Yorkshire to Bowness on the shores of Lake Windermere.

On the eve of their journey, two couples toast their adventure with laughter, fine food and a little too much drink. Optimism is high, nerves kept at bay by good cheer.

But when the third couple arrives, bringing an unexpected extra walker, the atmosphere shifts. What should be a night of jollity suddenly brims with unspoken tension, hinting that the trail ahead may hold more than just scenic beauty.
