🎭⚖️ Cast Announcement – Mac Hammond as the Foreman of the Jury! ⚖️🎭

Tettenhall Operatic Company is delighted to announce Mac Hammond in the role of the Foreman of the Jury in Trial by Jury as part of our upcoming production, A Trio of Sullivan!

Leading a jury that is supposedly “from bias free of every kind,” the Foreman plays a central role in one of Gilbert and Sullivan’s most hilarious courtroom comedies. As the trial unfolds, he helps guide the jury through the evidence, the arguments, and the increasingly absurd proceedings—although whether justice is actually served is another matter entirely!

The Foreman is at the heart of the courtroom action, joining in with the jury’s reactions to the scandalous case and contributing to the operetta’s sharp satire of the legal system. With plenty of comic moments and some wonderfully entertaining ensemble numbers, it’s a role that helps keep the chaos moving from start to finish.

We can’t wait to see Mac return to the courtroom following his role as the irritable Mr Grinder in The Zoo, bringing his character and humour to this key role in our modern-day production of Trial by Jury.

🎭⚖️ Cast Announcement – Greg Instone as The Usher! ⚖️🎭

Tettenhall Operatic Company is delighted to announce Greg Instone in the role of The Usher in Trial by Jury as part of our upcoming production, A Trio of Sullivan!

Every courtroom needs someone to keep order—and in Trial by Jury, that responsibility falls to The Usher. From welcoming the jury and public into court to ensuring proceedings run smoothly, he is the voice of authority at the start of this delightfully chaotic case.

However, as any audience member soon discovers, impartiality is in short supply! The Usher makes it abundantly clear where his sympathies lie, helping to set the tone for a trial that is anything but fair. With his comic observations and involvement in the courtroom antics, The Usher plays an important part in the operetta’s sharp satire of the legal system.

We can’t wait to see Greg bring energy, humour, and personality to this memorable role in our modern-day production of Trial by Jury.

Tettenhall Operatic Company is delighted to announce Mick Branaghan in the role of Counsel for the Plaintiff in Trial by Jury as part of our upcoming production, A Trio of Sullivan!

Representing the heartbroken Angelina in her breach-of-promise case, Counsel for the Plaintiff is determined to secure justice for his client—and perhaps a substantial award of damages too! With persuasive arguments, dramatic courtroom speeches, and a keen eye for opportunity, he plays a key role in guiding the case through the increasingly chaotic proceedings.

As the trial unfolds, Counsel presents Angelina’s case with great conviction, helping to paint a picture of romance, betrayal, and a wedding that never was. But in a courtroom where emotions run high and impartiality is in short supply, anything can happen!

A wonderfully entertaining character full of wit and theatrical flair, Counsel for the Plaintiff is at the heart of the operetta’s satirical take on the legal system. We can’t wait to see Mick bring this role to life in our modern-day production of Trial by Jury.

Tettenhall Operatic Company is delighted to announce Jamie Cranham in the role of The Defendant, Edwin, in Trial by Jury as part of our upcoming production, A Trio of Sullivan!

Edwin finds himself at the centre of a courtroom storm after being accused of breaking his promise to marry the beautiful Angelina. Faced with a hostile jury, an eager public, and a Judge whose impartiality is questionable at best, Edwin does his best to explain his actions—but only seems to make matters worse!

Charming, impulsive, and hopelessly out of his depth, Edwin is a wonderfully comic character whose attempts to keep everyone happy lead to some of the operetta’s funniest moments. As the trial descends into chaos, audiences will be left wondering whether he can talk his way out of trouble or if he’s destined to lose his case—and his heart.

We can’t wait to see Jamie bring humour, charisma, and plenty of courtroom drama to this pivotal role in our modern-day production of Trial by Jury.

Angelina is the heartbroken bride-to-be at the centre of a sensational breach-of-promise case. Determined to seek justice after being jilted by her fiancé, she arrives in court surrounded by her devoted bridesmaids and quickly captures the attention of everyone present. But beneath the tears and dramatic declarations lies a woman who knows exactly what she wants!

With soaring melodies, comic flair, and plenty of courtroom drama, Angelina is one of the operetta’s most captivating characters. We can’t wait for audiences to see Phaedra bring charm, humour, and heartfelt emotion to this starring role in our modern-day production of Trial by Jury.

Tettenhall Operatic Company is delighted to announce Gary Gentle in the role of The Judge in Trial by Jury as part of our upcoming production, A Trio of Sullivan!

The Judge is one of Gilbert and Sullivan’s most memorable comic creations. Presiding over a breach-of-promise case with plenty of confidence—but perhaps not quite as much impartiality as one might hope—he recounts his own unlikely rise through the legal profession before attempting to untangle the romantic chaos unfolding in his courtroom.

With a sharp wit, larger-than-life personality, and some of the operetta’s most entertaining musical moments, The Judge is at the heart of the comedy. In our modern-day production of Trial by Jury, audiences can look forward to a fresh take on this iconic character as Gary brings his own flair to the role.

Love, law, and laughter collide in Trial by Jury, Arthur Sullivan’s brilliantly witty comic operetta—reimagined in the modern day by Tettenhall Operatic Company!

The courtroom is packed as an eager jury and curious members of the public gather to witness a sensational breach of promise case. At the centre of the scandal is the charming but unfortunate Edwin, accused of jilting his fiancée, the dramatic and “broken-hearted” Angelina.

But this is no ordinary trial…

The jury is hilariously biased, the Judge’s rise to power is more than a little questionable, and before long nearly everyone in court is caught up in the chaos of romance, scandal, and outrage. As accusations fly and emotions run high, Edwin attempts to solve the problem in the most ridiculous way possible—creating utter mayhem in the courtroom and delight for the audience.

By bringing Trial by Jury into the present day, this classic comic opera feels as sharp, funny, and relevant as ever, packed with satire, unforgettable characters, and Sullivan’s sparkling music.

🎭✨ Cast Announcement – Mac Hammond as Mr Grinder! ✨🎭

Tettenhall Operatic Company is delighted to announce Mac Hammond in the role of Mr Grinder in The Zoo as part of our upcoming production, A Trio of Sullivan!

Mr Grinder is Laetitia’s stubborn and hot-tempered father, determined to stand in the way of her romance with the unfortunate Aesculapius Carboy. Already in discomfort from a rather unfortunate medicinal “blister,” Grinder’s bad temper is only made worse by the enthusiastic greetings of the Great British Public!

Full of comic frustration, dramatic outbursts, and larger-than-life reactions, Mr Grinder is a wonderfully entertaining role at the heart of Sullivan’s charming operetta. We can’t wait for audiences to see Mac bring this hilariously grumpy character to life on stage!

Laetitia is a young woman torn between love and duty as she struggles to gain her father’s approval to marry the man she loves, Aesculapius Carboy. Sweet-hearted, determined, and full of emotion, she finds herself caught up in the operetta’s whirlwind of misunderstandings, comic mishaps, and romantic drama.

As chaos unfolds around the zoo—from prescription mix-ups to dramatic declarations and even a trip to the bear pit—Laetitia remains at the centre of this charming and heartfelt story. We can’t wait for audiences to see Phaedra bring warmth, humour, and elegance to this delightful role!
