🌀 WHAT IS FREAK OUT PSYCH NIGHT? 👁️

For 4 years, Freak Out has been bringing something a little different to Birmingham.

Live psychedelic, garage, freakbeat, 60s and underground music… vinyl DJs… psychedelic lights… late-night nuggets… and a crowd that comes along with an open mind and doesn't quite know what they're going to get. 💿🔥

Over the years we've been lucky enough to have some incredible bands play Freak Out, including The Junipers, The Munyks, The Mystery People, Tuppenny Bunters, The Velvet Tuxedo, Karma Sheen, Looking Glass Alice, Japanese Television and plenty more.

Every night has had its own atmosphere. Some nights have been loud and chaotic, some weird and psychedelic, some straight-up garage rock'n'roll — but that's the whole point.

YOU NEVER REALLY KNOW WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN AT FREAK OUT.👁️🌀

And after 4 years, we've decided it's time for a little break.

So November's Freak Out is going to be a BIG celebration of everything we've built over the years.

🔥 FRIDAY 6TH NOVEMBER 🔥
4 YEARS OF FREAK OUT

And it's also going to be the LAST FREAK OUT FOR A WHILE.

It could be a year. It could be longer. But before we disappear, we're going to go out with one hell of a night.

🔥 THE ANOMALYS ARE COMING TO BIRMINGHAM!🔥

ONE LAST GIG BEFORE MY BREAK

Get ready for a night of raw garage rock, punk, rock ’n’ roll and absolute mayhem at The Night Owl! No gentle vibes — this one is loud, wild and made for the dancefloor. 🖤

🇳🇱 THE ANOMALYS
Hailing from Amsterdam, The Anomalys are known for their primitive, chaotic blend of garage punk, rockabilly and raw rock ’n’ roll. Their ferocious live shows have earned them a serious reputation, and they're bringing that full-throttle energy to Birmingham!

🎧 DJ MR A – HIPSVILLE
Keeping things moving before and after the band is Mr A, the Brighton-based promoter and DJ behind Hipsville and Weirdsville. Expect a seriously wild selection of punk, garage, instrumental madness and fist-pumping glam, all played from 45s and designed to keep the dancefloor moving.

💡 PLUS: PSYCHEDELIC LIGHT SHOW
Even though the music is firmly garage rock, punk & rock ’n’ roll, we're still bringing the visual spectacle!

👁️ BEHIND THE SCENES OF FREAK OUT… 🌀

Before the doors open, the lights go on and the first records start spinning, there’s a lot going on behind the scenes…

Setting up the room, getting the lights ready, soundchecks, records everywhere and that feeling that something’s about to kick off. 💿⚡️

Here’s a little look behind the scenes before another night of Freak Out Psych Night gets underway.

Then the doors open… and the madness begins. 👁️🔥

🚨 LINE-UP CHANGE FOR NOVEMBER!🌀

Unfortunately, The Trouble are no longer able to play our November Freak Out Psych Night.

But… we've got something VERY exciting to announce…

🔥 THE BEATPACK ARE NOW HEADLINING FREAK OUT!🔥

Formed to play the kind of wild teenage Rock’n’Roll, 60s garage punk, R&B and raw blues they grew up on, The Beatpack have been making noise in various forms since the late 80s.

After a two-decade break, they resurfaced in 2012 and have since released records on Screaming Apple and Spinout Nuggets, toured Spain and Germany, and built a sound firmly rooted in the mid-60s while remaining completely their own.

And they're bringing a brand new LP with them — The House of Antiquities— coming soon. 👁️🔥

Expect raw R&B, garage punk, Rock’n’Roll, freakbeat and serious live energy.

And with The See No Evils also on the bill, DJs Lee Petryszyn, Paul Whittington & Callum Gallagher, plus our psychedelic light show…
