Wokingham Theatre WT is a leading amateur theatre company staging 8+ productions each year at our own 160 seat theatre. It is a local gem for all Wokingham residents to enjoy.

Wokingham Theatre (WT) is one of the longest-running community theatre groups in the Berkshire area. Formed in 1947, the group moved to their current location in 1986. Hidden away next to the Cantley House Hotel on the outskirts of the town, WT puts on eight full-length productions a year of outstanding quality that belies the ‘am-dram’ tag. On each performance night, up to sixty people can have b

een involved in getting the show on its feet. From directing to designing stage sets, from on-stage to behind the scenes and even running the bar in the interval, WT is a thriving amateur group with over two hundred members making it a centre of creativity for young and old, veterans and beginners. We have an annual audience attendance figure of over eleven thousand people.

Wishing a huge good luck to the cast and crew of HANSARD, as they head into their Tech Weekend.

Hansard opens with a charity preview this Wednesday, before going on to the general public from Thursday.

If you're the parent of a 7-11 year old within Wokingham Borough and want to find something that captures their imaginations, teaches them new skills, and widens their social circles, we have good news.

There are a handful of spaces remaining in our Junior Drama Classes, held at Wokingham Theatre every Saturday morning during term time, between 9 and 11am.

The Juniors Classes are for Years 4-6 (inclusive) and cost £120 per term.

The WT Members' Quiz Night is BACK!

Join us at Wokingham Theatre on Friday 4 September for another wonderful evening of brain stretching! Come along from 7pm for a 7.30pm start. As usual, the bar will be open to lubricate those brain cells throughout the evening.

Don't have a team? No worries, come along and we will find you one on the night.

We are delighted to welcome back to Wokingham Theatre, Steve and Sandra, who will be our guest quizmasters for the evening.

The cost is £2 per person (cash only please). As usual, there will be cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams.

No need to book, just turn up. Non-members are welcome if accompanied by a member. We look forward to seeing you!

The 2026/27 season at Wokingham Theatre kicks off with Hansard, a modern piece of writing from Simon Woods (who many people will originally have known as Mr Bingley in the 2005 film version of Pride and Prejudice).

The play runs at 90 minutes, without an interval, and for its cast of just two actors, there really is nowhere to hide; something director Jerry Radburn tells us we do not need to worry about, as we are in safe hands with this pair of actors.

We’ve sat down with Jerry to hear exactly what is in store for the first play of our new season.

Here's your 👀 FIRST LOOK 👀 into the rehearsal room for Hansard, Simon Woods' brilliant, gripping, modern drama, opening at Wokingham Theatre in a couple of weeks.

Summer 1988. Devoted Conservative MP Robin Heskarth returns home after the government’s passing of Section 28, a law that silenced discussion of homosexuality in schools.

Hoping for a quiet weekend with his wife, Diana, he instead finds himself confronted. As political tensions seep into personal lives, what begins as playful, intellectual sparring quickly escalates into something far more dangerous.

Old wounds are reopened, long-buried secrets surface, and the fragile foundations of a 30-year marriage begin to fracture.

Wokingham Youth Theatre offers a creative haven to young people aged 7 to 17, giving them the chance to develop their drama skills within a working theatre environment and become part of the wider theatre family.⁠

A vibrant and dynamic learning and performance space, our termly classes are designed to promote a sense of self-confidence, responsibility and respect. ⁠

We seek to equip young people with theatre skills in a structured and highly-motivated environment, giving them skills and friendships that will last them for life.⁠

How are classes structured?⁠
⁠
Juniors (Years 4 to 6): Saturday mornings⁠
Inters (Years 7 to 9): Wednesday and Thursday evenings⁠
Seniors (Years 10 to 12): Mon & Tue evenings⁠

Fees cost £120 per term⁠

We admit new students at the beginning of each term. We will invite potential new students to join us for a trial class. Following the trial class, we will discuss with you the suitability of your child to join the group.⁠

Winners of the Wokingham Youth Theatre's annual awards 🏆

Eloise and Noah were joint winners of the Jill Hyem Cup, the mark of excellence among our Youth Theatre, as presented by WT stalwarts Andy Lee and Elizabeth Bird.

Also pictured our this year's Star Winners: Sophia, Jean-Marc, Imogen, Isaac and Annie ⭐️
