Happy New Year everyone! Hoping that you all had a spectacular Christmas and that 2026 is going to be a great one for you all.

The last six months of 2025 were very busy for us not least with us squeezing in a last minute build project right on top of Christmas (yes, we must be bonkers). :-)

One additional benefit to the build is that we are closer to having a cozy snug up and running where pupils can wait for their lesson to start if they arrive a little early and parents can sit, relax or work (WiFi code will be available), whilst their children are in lesson. We will keep you updated on its progress.

One of the things that our drum tutor Carter Harris gets up to when he isn't teaching. This time a gig with the incredible Hans Koller on piano, Freddie Canton on double-bass and the vocals/trombone of Malcolm Earle-Smith. All at the fabulous Olivers Jazz Bar in Greenwich.

A new slot has opened up on a Wednesday for face-to-face drum lessons in our Finchampstead studio. Feel free to pop me an email if you would like to discuss this/see if the time slot suits you.

A few details about our drum lessons:

- DBS.
- £35 per 1 hour lesson
- Off -road parking available, parents can also sit-in on lessons (ear protection provided), alternatively a lovely village pub, just down the road.
- Regular feedback and progress information.
- Tutor is a London based drummer that teaches from Finchampstead one day a week.

AUGUST LUNCHTIME JAZZ: ART THEMEN
Monday 4 August 2025, 2pm at The Guildford Institute

A fantastically exciting, playful and inventive saxophonist, Art Themen has been a beloved character of the British jazz scene for 60 years.

A previous winner of the tenor sax category in the British Jazz Awards, recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Worshipful Company of Musicians and shortlisted for the Jazz Instrumentalist of the year in the recent Parliamentary Jazz Awards, this living legend has famously combined his role as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with saxophone duties in the bands of Alexis Korner and Stan Tracey as well as recordings with Joe Cocker, Jack Bruce and even Bing Crosby.

With Robin Aspland on piano whose credits include Ronnie Scott, John Dankworth, Kenny Wheeler, Van Morrison, and the BBC Big Band!)

An unmisseable oportunity to hear these wonderful musicians in an intimate setting.
