Feeling hot, hot, hot! β˜€οΈπŸ₯΅

As the heatwave continues, the animals have been getting creative with the features in their enclosures to keep cool. From finding the shadiest spots to making the most of their water and pools, they've been showing us exactly how it's done!

Our keepers have also been busy creating special cooling enrichment to help everyone stay comfortable in the soaring temperatures. Think ice cubes, frozen sweet potato and plenty more!

These brilliant clips were captured by keepers Ruby, Abbi, Harry, and Lauren πŸŽ₯πŸ’š

Why do yellow mongoose love foraging in long grass? πŸΎπŸ’›

It's the perfect place to hunt for their favourite foods, including insects and small rodents, all while staying hidden from danger! The long grass provides essential camouflage from birds of prey and terrestrial predators, helping these clever little mammals stay safe as they search for their next meal.

You can see the resident mongoose pair Manuel and Clove rustling through the grasses in their Desert Spring enclosure. πŸ“

Join Keeper Meg today to weigh the Humboldt penguins! πŸ§βš–οΈ

Keeper Meg and the team have been working hard to get the colony confident with the weighing scales through training sessions, food enrichment, and gentle close-up interactions, making health checks a stress-free part of their routine.

This is an important part of their husbandry, allowing the team to monitor changes in weight over time and helping to identify potential signs of illness early.

Next time you visit, head over to Humboldt Harbour to see the charismatic penguins and learn more about the care they receive from the animal team every day! πŸ§πŸ’™

It's with heavy hearts that we share the news that our beloved wolves, Tala and Akela, have been peacefully put to sleep after developing health conditions that were beginning to profoundly affect their quality of life.

After thoughtful discussion and a thorough veterinary assessment, the decision was made to let them go to spare them unnecessary pain and discomfort.

Brother Akela and sister Tala were big characters at Woburn, with Akela's gentle and shy nature in contrast to Tala's brave and adventurous spirit. Their loss is felt deeply by the teams who cared for them. We say thank you to our keepers, at this difficult time, for helping them live long, full lives.

This or That with the Bactrian camel herd! πŸ₯•πŸŽ

Carrots? Yes.
Apples? Also yes.
Personal space? Absolutely not.

Safe to say the camel herd doesn’t believe in β€œThis or That" - all food is good food!
