Celebrity Xcel -The Bazzar -Aqua

The second of the festivals created aboard the new Celebrity Xcel. Aqua is a celebration of the beauty of the waters of the carribean.

The fiberglass welcome totems were made in the workshop prior to sailing made hand sculpted with hundreds of coral casting individually painted. Our fantastic site team led the charge on creating custom textile elements to continue the ethereal theme. Working alongside the team from Celebrity, Tbi media and 5d scenic.

Additional sculptural elements done aboard to help complete the look.

Light and beautiful fabrics from 'Mood' (yes that one-make it work guys) expand the textural depth of the space. Combined with aquatic lighting effects creating a total venue transformation.

Celebrity Cruises - The Bazzar - CARNIVAL

Whilst I am famously terrible at taking photos. Here is a selection of elements we helped with on the Carnival festival aboard the brand new Celebrity Xcel.

It's an audacious task, to totally re-theme a venue multiple times a week. And we are humbled to have been a part of the team, along with 5d scenic and Clockwork Scenery.
Many feathers, giant carnival flowers, more feathers and finishing details help bring this to life. There were many more contractors involved shore side, unfortunately I don't have the credits. The ship based team were tasked with unifying the elements, creating new designs to increase the scale, and creating solutions to allow it to work in limited storage.

And incredible team and an incredible team effort. More to come on the other festivals

The end of last year was occupied for us with the brand new Celebrity Xcel. What a truly incredible experience with fantastic people building a truly unique experience at sea. I will post more about the incredible Bazzar and what we contributed to it along with the other teams. Our site team spent 25 days at sea after 4 intense weeks of workshop build.

It's the people who make it, long hours both in and out of the workshop, much laughter and a few tattoos to boot. I am fortunate to have such a fantastic team who always rise to the challenge. We will be back again soon, but in the meantime here are some of the adventures.

Flying throne!

The first of many things we were asked to help with on the brand new Celebrity Xcel.
Tbi media asked us to build this unique piece of aerial apparatus for the show Main Stage.

So many curves to make this beautiful shape, as usual with any aerial piece we make, safety is key, every bar is individually tested and certified. The incredible cast brings this to life with chorography by

Chappell's throne
Sculpted throne for the Damels and other Dangerous things tour.
A cosy spot for to have a pause

The detail this is crazy, but totally worth it. Bass relief, hand sculpting, 3d printed dragons. The detail just keeps going.
A piece like this is special, nothing is off the shelf, so it's all the the eyes of the sculptor's. Our incredible team made this look so cohesive and like it had been in Chappell's castle for a thousand years.

Taking a look at some of the beautiful props we recently made for
First up! The Piano
This stunning piano shell fits a Nord 4 made from fiberglass, steel and epoxy.
It's all hand sculpted by our incredible team. It has so much personality and depth.

Built for touring in every way, removable panels for access and cable runs, even a lifting and locking pedal for ease of getting on stage. Naturally it all packs into a custom cart.

All the feathers were custom dyed and airbrushed to match the fabric sample of his new suit. They remain the largest wearable pair we have made.

The finished effect is stunning!

New blades 2025!
Naturally I took barely any photos. However the quality of the work was incredible. To all the students who exhibited, congratulations you did yourself proud. Our award went to for the stunning Selkie, the sculpture is beautifully evocative, but also really clever use of materials which swung it for me.

On a more sentimental note, a massive thank you to Andy, Tim and the rest of the team , we have been a sponsor of the show for a while, organising this is a feat in itself and an incredible opportunity for the graduates.
I'm sad to hear that 4d is closing its doors on Monday. The early part of my career, and even this company, were spent running in to buy stuff for last min jobs. Or looking for material inspiration, there really is no other place like it. We still use their workshop services and order materials where knowing the exact specs are essential. It's a huge loss to the community.

I hope to see new blades take on a future shape, and hopefully we can still be involved. The quality of the work was above and beyond this year.
