You know when you drive past a police car and suddenly feel guilty even though you’ve done absolutely nothing wrong???

That’s basically what a food hygiene inspection feels like, I'm sure other hospitality businesses can relate 😅

We work SO hard to make sure everything behind the scenes is spot on, from our cleaning and food safety procedures to making sure our allergen information is accurate and up to date BUT it’s still incredibly nerve wracking having someone come in and inspect it all completely unannounced during a busy lunchtime session 🥴

But that does make putting this up next to our last inspection's result even more satisfying ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Back to back 5*s for Scribbleton! Very proud of this one and our incredible team for making it happen ❤️

There's always time for a cuppa... especially when your barista is this good 😂

We love seeing these special moments with our families, especially when they've become friends along the way. This little one has been visiting Scribbleton since she was just a few weeks old, and watching her grow in confidence, imagination and independence is what's it's all about!

☀️ What to Expect
We understand the unique challenges families of children with SEND face when accessing inclusive spaces. That’s why we’re thrilled to offer exclusive sessions designed just for SEND children and their families (no diagnosis needed!)
We appreciate that children with SEND may learn and develop differently from their peers. Visiting new places can sometimes feel overwhelming, so we’ve created a welcoming environment tailored to their needs.

- Reduced capacity
- Other families to socialise and connect with
- Extra space for comfortable exploration and play

We completely understand that it's the summer holidays and everyone has a million things going on. However, if you're planning to come along, we'd really appreciate you booking sooner rather than later so we can assess whether there's enough demand to run each session.

Unfortunately if bookings are too low, we'll have to cancel some sessions, and we'd hate for families to miss out if they just hadn't got round to booking yet - we've had so much interest in these sessions that we're hoping you just need a little reminder!

The more children who book, the more familiar faces there'll be on the day, making the sessions even more valuable and enjoyable for everyone.

I hate having to make posts like this for a moan (especially on the back of yesterday's post and your lovely comments) and I'm disappointed I even have to say it, but please do not leave our Sensory Room like this.

Our Sensory Room is included completely free of charge for every family visiting Scribbleton. We’ve invested heavily in creating and equipping this space so that it can be enjoyed by everyone - particularly little ones and children who may really need a calm, welcoming space during their visit.

We absolutely expect it to be played in, explored and enjoyed. We expect things to move about while children are using it, but we also expect adults to help return the room to roughly how they found it before leaving.

Leaving mats, sensory equipment and toys scattered across the entire room for somebody else to pick up simply isn’t fair or respectful and unfortunately it happens a lot. And it always baffles me that people think it's okay to just walk away and leave it for someone else to deal with 🤯

We’re a small team, often juggling the café, sign in, cleaning and everything else that goes into running Scribbleton. We simply don’t always have somebody available to completely reset the Sensory Room between families - and nor should we have to. And the next family shouldn't have to walk into somebody else’s mess.

It really is just common courtesy: please leave the space as you’d hope to find it.

Enjoy it, play with everything, move things around and make yourselves comfortable. But when you’re finished, please just take a couple of minutes to put things back.

This is a shared space that we provide for everyone to enjoy. Please treat it, us and the people using it after you with respect.

🎈 SCRIBBLETON IS TWO!

Two years ago today, we opened our doors for the very first time. We had no idea what the next two years would bring…! Huge highs and many, many lows 😅 highlights include...

- 8 award wins & 23 finalist nominations
- tens of thousands of visits from families like you
- countless milestones witnessed, from first steps to new friendships
- more cookie pies, brownies & cake than we could EVER count!

We’ve watched teeny babies come back walking, talking and confidently exploring. We’ve celebrated birthdays, welcomed school trips, supported families who’ve struggled to find places that work for their children and watched friendships begin.

We’ve created jobs, worked with other businesses, introduced new ideas, baked an obscene amount of cake and somehow collected awards along the way 🤯

None of it would exist without our amazing team and YOU. Every booking, coffee, cake, party, return visit, recommendation, review, share and tag helps keep Scribbleton going. We never take any of it for granted ❤️

So, on our second birthday, we want to ask you something:

Please keep remembering us.

Right now is a difficult and honestly quite scary time to run a small business, especially in hospitality. VAT, business rates, employment costs, utilities, food and ingredients - almost everything it takes to open our doors has become significantly more expensive in the last two years.

Summer is particularly tough for indoor attractions. When the sun comes out, bookings get quieter, but the bills keep on coming 😅

MEET YOUR CLASSMATES 2026 - please help us spread the word and tag schools, PTAs, parents friends and families to make these sessions the best they can be!

These designated sessions are an amazing, no pressure way of children meeting others ahead of the first day of school, and a great meet up opportunity during the holidays for those who already know others in their class. It's also a chance for parents to connect so you recognise those friendly faces at the school gates.

A reminder of the details:
🕒 Sessions run from 15:00 - 17:00
👶 Siblings are welcome to join in the fun but must be booked into the session as normal
👥 We need a minimum of 7 children per session for them to run. If we don’t reach this, you’ll be able to reschedule to a general play session or receive a full refund

If your school isn’t already listed, just give us a shout and if it's local to us we’ll do our best to add a session, we’d love to welcome even more classes.

Due to a change in our regular Friday bookings we can offer Unlimited Play this week!

Unlimited Play will be pausing over the summer holidays so it's a great chance to come and play.

Due to staff holidays and availability we're closing slightly earlier at 14:00 but plenty of opportunity to play today.
