Legoland Windsor's Miniland was updated in 2005 with a new model cluster of NASA's Kennedy Space Centre in the USA. It replaced what seemed to be the original Germany cluster.

It featured a narrated audio tour of the centre and a countdown to a rocket launch. The rocket didn't actually move until a revamp in recent years.

Also opened in 2005 was Fire Academy at the top of the Traffic area. The simple kids attraction was the last attraction opened under the park's original Lego Group ownership, together with Dino Safari and Dino Dipper. These were also some of the few to be designed by Lego in-house, rather than an external team.

The 2005 Legoland Windsor map, the park's 10th season and the opening season of Fire Academy, Dino Safari and Dino Dipper! It was also the park's last months under the Lego Group before the sale to Merlin Entertainments that summer.

Opened in 2005 at Legoland Windsor was Dino Safari, a themed kids car ride, expanding the Adventureland area around the back of the lake. It featured numerous animated Lego dinos and fantasy creatures to spot around the circuit.

It was a pretty neat kids ride, though the area was closed after 2015 to be redeveloped for the Castle Hotel. The area is unrecognisable today but a short length of the old track can still be spotted in place between the hotels if you look close enough.

Opening at Legoland Windsor with Adventureland in 2004 was the Jungle Coaster! This was a Mack family wild mouse coaster and the park's most thrilling ride at the time. It was a fun ride and also featured a talking temple with a waterfall, although overall wasn't nearly as well themed as previous attractions.

The coaster unfortunately had some troubles with noise pollution and so in 2008 the cars were fitted with plastic covers, as seen here in these photos. This created a pretty strange ride experience and it only lasted two further seasons. It eventually reopened at Legoland Florida in 2012!

The site was then used by the Legoland Hotel. Do you remember this short lived coaster?

The Adventurers' Express theme for Legoland's park railway was short lived before being renamed Orient Expedition the following season in 2003, to tie in with the recently debuted Lego set theme. This kept the safari animals and it was likely at this point that the animated characters were added, including Johnny Thunder, Sam Sinister and Pippin Reed!

In 2002 the Imagination Theatre was converted to a 4D cinema, initially playing 'Lego Racers 4D'. It ran like this for over 20 years playing a variety of different films, and was later renamed the Lego 4D Movie Theatre.

The Theatre had been blacked out and upgraded with new lighting and audio the previous year for Life On Mars, but was now enclosed further with the seating along the sides walled off and the old stage now home to the cinema screen.

The theatre has recently been demolished for a dedicated permanent 4D cinema to be built in its place.
