7 DAYS OF FOCUS: DISABILITY & INCLUSION WEEK ♿💛

From 29th June – 5th July, we're proud to be hosting a week dedicated to celebrating inclusion, accessibility, and the power of sport and physical activity for everyone.

Throughout the week, a range of FREE activities and sessions will be available across our centres and with local community partners, giving individuals living with disabilities the opportunity to get active, build confidence, meet new people, and try something new in a welcoming and supportive environment.

🚨 As part of Drowning Prevention Week, please take a moment to listen to our lifeguard’s important water safety message.

As the weather warms up and more people head to the water, we want everyone to enjoy themselves safely. Whether you’re at the beach, a lake, river, or swimming pool, always follow water safety advice and look out for one another.

Stay safe. Stay aware. Respect the water. 💙

☀️ With the warm weather returning this weekend and summer just around the corner, we’d like to remind all parents, carers and families to take a moment to talk to your children and teenagers about staying safe around water.

Whether it’s a trip to the beach, river, lake, canal or swimming pool, following the Water Safety Code could save a life.

💙 STOP AND THINK
• Take time to assess your surroundings.
• Look for dangers and follow local signs and advice.
• Think about how to stay safe.

💙 STAY TOGETHER
• Always go with friends or family.
• Choose lifeguarded swimming venues whenever possible.

🚨 CALL 999
• Ask for the Fire and Rescue Service when inland and the Coastguard if at the coast.
• Never enter the water to rescue someone.

🌊 FLOAT
• If you fall in or become tired, stay calm, float on your back and call for help.
• Throw something that floats to someone who has fallen in.

Please take a few minutes to share these important messages with your children and teenagers before they head out this summer.

Today we say goodbye to Justyna and thank her for the fantastic contribution she has made during her time at Leisure Focus.

Throughout the past year, Justyna has been instrumental in developing programmes that have supported people living with a wide range of health conditions, helping to improve health, wellbeing and quality of life across our communities.

As she moves on to her next challenge, we would like to thank her for her hard work, dedication and passion. We wish her every success and happiness for the future.

Around 400 people drown in open water every year in the UK, which is why Tom Dean Swim School has launched a water safety and drowning prevention campaign to help educate young people and families throughout the summer.

So far, we have:
• 50 schools booked for water safety assemblies across the UK, reaching over 10,000 young people
• 5,000+ swimmers in our programme taking part in water safety lessons
• Free and discounted swimming sessions for 13–17 year olds with selected pool partners to help keep them swimming in safe pools
• Paid social media adverts with water safety messaging running throughout the summer
• A live water safety rescue demonstration with the fire service, filmed in front of an audience of 600 young people
• Attending summer fairs and community events to help spread awareness
• Leaflets, banners and water safety messaging being displayed in hotspots across the UK throughout the summer

Our message is simple:
“Don’t become a memory.”
