There has been a slight lull this past day or so - a moment to catch a breath and to thank you with all my heart for your love and wishes. I feel so sustained and supported by you and am deeply and forever grateful for your kindnesses.

I also wanted to share a joyful and affirming moment with you - all of you who have supported Mrs Macbeth in its creation and journey up to Edinburgh with such cheering on and generosity -

a wonderful 5 star review from the Edinburgh Guide (below - and with huge thanks to Vivien Devlin) which has arrived as such a vote of confidence that this play has a life ahead of it. You are all so woven into its making and I’m thrilled to share this with you.

More soon and with great love and gratitude 🩵🎭 x x x

I am very sorry indeed that I have had to cancel the last three performances of Mrs Macbeth, and for any inconvenience that this has caused.

And I am so extraordinarily grateful for the shows that we were able to share this week in Edinburgh - for every drop of the support that got this new play made and up to the festival, and for the fantastic audiences that have allowed me to discover and uncover so hugely much - as is only discoverable in relationship with an audience.

I will share more of the beautiful feedback and reviews we have received in my next post. And properly acknowledge every person to whom I owe such enormous gratitude. But for these days now I need to focus my full attention, heart, and energy on family.

Thank you, dear friends, for your understanding. I’m sending much love to everyone x x x 🩵🙏🏽

The first-ever-performance of Mrs Macbeth yesterday, with a wonderful audience - and two fabulous Australian women in the front row with no reservations at all about talking back - who helped reveal to me that there’s a wee bit more Clown in this dark tale than I had previously suspected in rehearsal!
What a blessed surprise - ‘cause a spot of humour really does help get through the tragedy….
Thank you to everyone - and next show coming up in a few hours x x x 🎭🩵

Just who is Margaret Macbeth?!

The very first performances begin in one week’s time - August 24th - 29th.
Just six performances.
Please come! Please spread the word!
Please do continue to share the EdFringe and Crowdfunder links (in my bio).

Thank you again and always for all your wondrous generosity and support.
With love 🎭🩵 x x x

Summoning spirits in today’s rehearsal.

But why DOES she (Lady M) do it? Yes, yes, ambition, but WHY?! Just one of the questions weaving through Mrs Macbeth…

In just a few days the 2026 Edinburgh Festival Fringe begins - with an almost unimaginable 3,600 shows happening over 25 days!

We’ll be there for the final week - I’m still rehearsing away to have Mrs Macbeth ready for her first performance on 24th August.

It’s thrilling to be one of this extraordinary creative throng, and feel the steadily growing, heady mix of nerves and excitement needed to bring everything together - and to then leap off into the unknown. And I’m happy indeed to be working with the fantastic team at theSpace UK for the third time.

Please do do do keep sharing the Crowdfunder with friends you know who might be able to support - we still have quite a way to go with it - and do do do come to the show if you’ll be wandering along the Royal Mile in the last week of August!

Links to tickets and the Crowdfunder are in my bio. With thanks and love 🎭🩵✨

I posted an update yesterday of where things are at with this unfolding Mrs Macbeth journey, but did not make it easy - or even maybe possible - for anyone to find the link to the Crowdfunder (or ticket sales).

Meta is limiting the number of times one can add a link to a post in a given time period, which means that I can’t keep putting it directly in my posts - which then means asking people to take the extra step of having to find the link in earlier posts.

If anyone more FB savvy than me has any ideas of ways around this, I’d be very grateful as I really do need to keep bringing attention to the Crowdfunding and ticket-selling part of what we are doing.

Right now the links are in my Instagram bio and Susanna Hamnett FB page bio. As well as in earlier posts on my timeline. But that means asking people to go hunting…

If you do track down the links, please do keep sharing far and wide. Each person who posts them widens the circle of connection. We still quite have a ways to go, but it’s happening - thanks to you all.

With much love and huge gratitude x x x

Dear friends, with just a few weeks to go before Mrs Macbeth opens at the Fringe, I wanted to firstly, thank you with all my heart for your support that has brought us this far.

And secondly, to update you a little:
We have - thanks to you - reached about a third of our goal, but we have further to go, as well as a few new and unforeseen expenses to factor into it all.

I have added a few more donation tiers to the crowdfunder - small ways of expressing my great gratitude - and would also be so extraordinarily grateful if you could share the link and information with others you know.

There is a limit to the number of times that Meta will allow me to share these links - and so your sharing really (really!) helps! Every contribution becomes a part of this piece and weaves into the fabric of its making.

So thank you again for every drop of support, and for sharing the belief that in unsettled times we need to keep telling necessary stories about who and how we are in the world.

The link to the crowdfunder is in my bio.

And the beautiful image is, of course, taken from John Singer Sargent’s famous portrait of Ellen Terry as Lady Macbeth ♥️

With love and thanks x x x

Such a brilliant day working with brilliant friend, actor/singer Nigel Richards and brilliant son, Joshua MacGregor to record the voice for this - perhaps rather inaccurately titled! - solo show.
Yes - just me onstage, but also at times interacting with a Voice - an unseen character - so very beautifully and skilfully brought to life today by Nigel, with Joshua at the directing helm to guide and nuance.
Intense, detailed, rigorous, wonderful work with these generous and oh-so-talented two. And so the show takes shape…Thank you, brilliant, inspiring Nigel Richards and Joshua MacGregor. And now, at long last, Nigel and I are actually in a show together!

With thanks and love 🎭🩵 x x x)
