Mozart’s Requiem is the only piece where the composer, his student, AND his wife all worked on it — and only one of them was actually alive to see it performed. Talk about a group project with an uneven workload. 😅

Did you know…

This piece was commissioned anonymously by a messenger dressed in grey. This led Mozart to believe he might be writing the music for his own funeral.

Many myths grew around the Requiem, including stories that Mozart was poisoned or obsessed with death while composing it. Historians generally reject these claims, but the mystery remains part of its appeal!

Join WCFC and two other choirs of the Hampshire Choral Festival for an unforgettable evening as a talented line-up of vocal soloists, chorus, pianist and harmonium player breathe life into this extraordinary score. From the exquisite “Kyrie” to the jubilant “Gloria”, each movement unveils a new layer of emotional and musical intensity, combining operatic colour with sacred reverence. Whether you are a seasoned concert-goer or new to choral music, Rossini’s masterpiece promises to delight and inspire.
