The story of the hiding children seeped into our minds as we started creating for at this time last year.
The story says they would longingly look at the synagogue just meters away, unable to safely get across the street and pray.
Silent and hopeful eyes with us, through us.
We started mirroring the past and each other in search of a connection, a gateway, an answer.

We connect with the people and the places where we perform, we uncover gems of the past deeply tied to present lives.
In Amersfoort (NL), we found out through the owner that the very house we picked as one of our performance spots hid and protected Jews during WWII, families and children in particular.

Throwback to that sequence at the staircase where we were more than performers: recipients of things that should never be forgotten.

The idea for the street performance "In the City Still" came in stages and started as a simple yet aesthetically compelling idea: the unperturbed vulnerability of handbalancing juxtaposed with the forceful fast-paced business of urban spaces, causing people to rethink the relationship between space and the body. To pause and wonder.
This very photo, solely taken to scratch that creative itch over two years ago, later proved to contain a whole world of performative potential s t i l l being unlocked.

Our next adventure is fast approaching: July 6 at the in Wi******er (UK), with the support of ☆

"In the City Still" was developed as a group performance in residency at 2018. For two weeks, we explored and got inspired by the streets and the history of Amersfoort (NL) for a unique, non-copypasteable and site-responsive poetic street performance mixing acrobatics, handbalancing, contortion and live music.

“In the City Still”

Our group is preparing to set off on a new site-responsive journey, bringing our street promenade performance to The Hat Fair on July 7 after a week of Creation Process on site. We are excited to dive deep in what we do best: make the world around us stand still as we take you on journey. Make the mundane wonderful, different, poetic.

We are ready and excited to give you “In the City Still”.

Performers: Seve Feathers, Nicola Moran, Jude Marcus Penders
