Winchcombe Art Club

We’re a friendly group who meet on Wednesday mornings at Abbeyfields to paint/sketch. We don't teach, we encourage. You’re welcome to come and give it a go.

Bring your own project. There’s an annual exhibition and quarterly workshops with guest tutors We welcome new members of all ages and artistic abilities to Winchcombe Art Club. We meet weekly on a Wednesday morning. We help and support each other to work on our own projects. There is a yearly membership fee to cover costs, plus a small charge for our quarterly workshops and demonstration sessions.

Celebrating a fantastic selection of members’ paintings, which were vying for votes in our September competition. The theme was Monochrome and between us we chose a wide range of colours and subjects. Congratulations to the winners, Sue, Anne, Sean and Pam!

Winchcombe Art Club members were working on a variety of subjects this week. Some of our projects take several weeks to complete and others aren't really a finished product but rather a sketch for a larger piece. Here are the works-in-progress in watercolours, pencils, acrylics and gouache.

Joining Winchcombe Art Club is more than just enjoying friendly company while you paint (or draw or sketch). Your annual membership (£70) gives you a discount off our quarterly workshops, an opportunity to display and sell your work at our annual exhibition, as well as impromptu life drawing and urban sketching sessions. We also give you your first two visits free of charge. We welcome new members with any skill levels (or none) and look forward to meeting you if you’d like to try us for size. We managed to get some painting and drawing done prior to the excitement of the eclipse yesterday. Have you seen any great eclipse-inspired art? Maybe we will make some next week.

Another very pleasant morning chatting - err I mean working on our art projects - in Winchcombe this morning. We missed those members who were called away for various reasons, of course. Get well soon to our poorly soldiers too.

We are working on next year’s (Sept to June) workshop sessions currently with some wicked ideas in the mix. Watch this space!

More life drawing exercises today, as well as carrying on with our own projects. Our hall is lovely and cosy in winter but we had to admit that it was rather warm in this heatwave! We are gradually adding to the original art work postcards that will be prizes in the tombola at our annual exhibition on Saturday 7th November. Save the date!

Welcome to our new followers - and thank you! Do pop along to see what we get up to on a Wednesday morning. Today we started the session with some members doing five-minute life drawing sketches. They took it in turns to pose.

Later we continued with our usual wide range of art projects. Some were just beginning and others were completing work from earlier sessions.

Winchcombe Art Club members were working on lots of new projects at art club this morning. We like to stretch ourselves, so sometimes we change to a different medium or a different subject. See if you can spot acrylics, watercolours, gouache, pastels and fineliners.

Thank you to everyone who ventured out in the heat to join us for our bokeh workshop this morning. Special thanks to tutor Jane Wharton, who shared her watercolour skills with us.
The photos are of our bokeh paintings, either in progress or in some cases completed. We always marvel that such different pieces result from the same prompts!
Our next workshop will be in September - watch this space!
