10 years ago Wincanton Youth Theatre was created. It was and still is a place for young people aged 10 to 18 years who are interested in theatre from being on stage to backstage and tech can meet other like minded people.

We have from the start and continue to this day to put these young people first and use the arts to help grow young minds.
We put on 2-3 shows a year these include acting and musicals and variety shows.
We have performed classics such as Alice in Wonderland, Oliver and the Wizard of Oz, along with other shows such as Bugsy Malone and Bouncers and Shakers, we also made a horror film.

Our next show is July and will be Beauty and the Beast.
We will holding an open workshop this Sunday 22nd 2-4pm at the Wincanton Memorial hall to look at some of the parts of this upcoming show.

If you are interested and would like to see what we do and meet new people please join us and we will be happy to talk to you about the group.

Auditions for the cast will be held on Sunday 12th April also at the Memorial hall from 12-4pm

As a group we meet every Sunday afternoon to discuss and rehearse our shows.

If you are looking to progress we also help you with LAMDA exams that help go towards an acting career.

It has been 10 years since WYT performed their first show and now in 2026 we are proud to present our first show of the year 'Variety is the Spice of Life'.
Our members have been working hard to entertain the local community over the years and we hope to see you all on Saturday 7th February.

LESS THAN A WEEK
With only 5 days until WYT's Matilda hits the stage at Wincanton Memorial Hall we thought we would remind everyone how much effort and time not only the cast put into these shows but also those behind the scenes who help run our little theatre group.

WYT have a dedicated team that put these young people first and help to build their confidence on and off the stage as well as make new friends.
WYT also help put members through LAMDA which goes a long way to progress their acting careers.

Those who run WYT are not paid they just love theatre and the stage and want to help children and young adults to do the same.

So why not come along on the 26th or 27th of July and help support our little group enjoy the show and perhaps you would like to join and be part of our next show.
If so please speak to Sarah or Jayne for more information after the performance.
