I have just found some old GCSE work, back when I worked in Malaysia as Head of Senior Art in an International school, it makes me feel old knowing that these students are now in their 30's, 😳

A great space for Art students to sit their exams.

Just finished the Art and Photography GCSE exams for my home educated students, its great to have a proper Art room to use for the exam, big tables and no need to worry about getting paint on a carpet!

Whilst my GCSE Art and Photography students are busy working on their preparatory work for their exam in a few weeks, I make time for myself to improve my art work too by going to a class when I can, this week we used water soluble pencils and pens then watercolours on top. This is another I need to finish (I now have a mountain of unfinished pieces)

This week I had a 1:1 online GCSE Art lesson, the student was a bit stuck with which colours to use on a coloured pencil portrait, I found this image online and we both decided to draw a small section to explore the colours the artist had used. In just this small part that I had done, I used 7 different colours.
Top Tip, blue is a good colour to add shading on a face.

WORK IN PROGRESS!!!!

I'm not sure how I feel about this one at the moment, it needs a lot more work. The nose looks nearly right, one eye is not bad, the mouth completely wrong. Hopefully this won't be one of the pieces I never get round to finishing.

Definitely fun experimenting with soft pastels, I'm more of a realistic pencil portrait kind of artist. Thanks for the workshop this morning.

If anyone can recognise this so far, it's John, who looks like a fisherman! 😅
