Fun fact about me I currently have over 5 different types of stoneware clay on the go. These all have different shrinkage rates which adds complications when reclaiming. Mainly this means it’s a big risk to make pieces which join as the differing shrinkage causes handles etc to pop off and work to be ruined.

To combat this I make big pots with my reclaim if I don’t want to plan or think about it too much - the problem can be avoided by lots of wedging and keeping some of the same batch separate for the handles but space and how I work mean I’m much more likely to have fun and experiment with my reclaim and push myself to throw bigger or try new shapes.

I really enjoy this big pot and the throwing lines on the bottom section. I’m looking forward to firing and glazing it.

A few quiet moments at this weekends markets meant I got to take a few photos of some work and a few sun rays made me smile with these. I’m also having a day to rest while the kiln is on. Hope everyone has been enjoying the lovely spring weather 🌞

I’ve been pretty busy recently so here’s a few quick snaps.
I’ve been practicing lids and different ways of throwing gallerys and k***s, learning lots and really enjoying these forms.
Lots of mugs coming through - I’ll do a separate post on these soon but I need new more of these in stock as they are becoming very popular!
The Frome Independent was amazing this month, the sun was shining and it was full of positive vibes. I even ended up with a little sunburn and for early April I can’t help but be impressed!
Lots of making means managing my set up space well and it’s working well albeit a bit hectic. I put a glaze firing on last night so glaze reveal soon.

Finally got around to taking a photo that represents my work at the moment! was the push I needed to get myself together and move some workboards around, get the white cloth I normally use for markets and make a make shift photo booth on top of the kiln! I seem to have a bit of an aversion to taking pictures of my work. I put way too much pressure on myself due to having a photography degree (mainly spend in the darkroom doing analog work) BUT I’m actually really happy with how this has come out. Next on my list is a website update however as usual I’m sure I’ll be throwing and making most days to procrastinate!

Make sure to check out and if you’re on the fence for applying just do it. It’s a fantastic event. I’ll be at which is really exciting this year. More to come on this and lots of work in progress ✨

A little plate I made just for myself.
I’ve been experimenting with slip trailing glaze, inspired by some brilliant past and present British slipware potters. It’s not how I usually work and it’s not even how they worked, but I’ve been enjoying the chance to play.
Making this one for myself took the pressure off — especially since I rarely keep the pieces I make.
A galloping horse and some lovely variable blues. I’m quite fond of this one.
