Unbelievable

Unbelievable

We have unfortunately had the fireman’s pole removed from the multi-play unit at the park.

This piece of equipment is now unusable until it can be repaired or replaced. Sadly, this is just the latest in a growing list of vandalism and anti-social behaviour at St. Martin’s play area, including incidents of arson, graffiti, cutting of swing chains and even a homemade knife being discovered on site.

The Parish Council will now need to seriously consider whether CCTV should be introduced, or whether the play equipment should ultimately be removed and relocated to other parks that do not suffer from this level of damage and misuse.

It is a very sad situation, as it spoils things for the many local children who simply want a safe place to play and enjoy themselves.

If any residents overlooking the park have any information relating to the recent damage, please contact the Parish Council or report it directly to the police. Any information, no matter how small, could be helpful.

This Sunday 17th May
3 great local events, you could attend all 3 if you drive.

1. Dalston tractor run 12 noon
For the tractor enthusiasts, start and finish at Dalston, also an inflatable for all the children.

2. Blood bikes, Carlisle airport (access road)
10am, multi agency skill and awareness with all emergency services for you to interact with

3. Show and Tell, Bitts park 12 noon
Far too many free things for families to mention so checkout Carlisle Matters (and follow their page) for the rundown, you only need money for your food and drink unless you take a picnic and eat while you watch the main stage, free attractions for the kids which include 🤔😉

Early bird ticket prices, attractions and activities for the children (big and small) are FREE.

We have viewed video of the lineup and are pleasantly impressed, one event we’re looking forward to in September.

Ian from IM Events is renown for putting on a good show, this time he is going bigger.

Bouncy Castle Hire from £50

19/04/2026

Important details when booking an inflatable, from us or any other company.

When enquiring, it is important that you state a location, this is due to other bookings which may be some distance away.

Outdoor hires need to be on a grassed area.

Astro is ok but there will be a hole (16mm) in your Astro which will also puncture the membrane that’s underneath.

Hall hires are restricted to deadlines of setup and collection, usually an hour before the party start time and us returning at the end of the party (2hrs later)

Although the hire price is the same, the travel costs differ in price due to the distance, Penrith is 20 miles away, but we endure 80 miles and around 2hrs for our 2 return trips.

So when enquiring with any company, please include some details.

Outdoor (ie: garden)
Indoor hall (Party start and finish times)
And a location (hall name or postcode)

Please remember that we need access, if a pushchair can’t fit, then we can’t either, also we need to park our vehicle for unloading/loading.

If a company cancels due to weather (winds including gusts exceeding 24 MPH) please don’t call us saying you have been let down, the other company was right in cancelling, they were thinking about your child’s saftey as this is the maximum wind speed allowed to operate, and rain becomes a slip hazard along with other issues.
