✨MEET OUR STAGE CREW✨

Catching individual photos of this lot isn’t easy… they’d much rather stay hidden behind the scenery flats! So we’re doing things a little differently for this one 📸

It’s not often our stage crew get the spotlight they deserve. These are our unsung heroes, working tirelessly behind the scenes to make the stage look its very best. From building sets to painting scenery, they’re always hard at work, usually with a cup of coffee in hand to power through the work sessions.

We’re also very lucky to have such a brilliant mix of both men and women on the team and it’s safe to say the female touch definitely helps to keep everything looking just right and someone needs to keep the lads in check!

✨MEET JAN, SCOTT & BLAYR✨

This fab trio are creative enthusiasts are mind behind the incredible props team for “The Wizard of Oz” and fair to say they’ve had their hands full bringing the magic of Oz to life. With hundreds of props needed throughout the production, the trio have been hard at work designing, building, painting, and problem-solving their way through rehearsals.

From the iconic legs of the Wicked Witch of the East, to the Tinman’s axe and Glinda’s famous bubble, no challenge has been too big or too strange for this talented team. Their creativity and attention to detail have helped transform the stage into the wonderful world of Oz.

Having an absolute blast behind the scenes, Jan, Scott, and Blayr have thrown themselves into every idea with enthusiasm, imagination, and plenty of laughs along the way. Quite simply, the magic of Oz wouldn’t look the same without them.

✨MEET KIERAN✨

Kieran Mackay may be best known this time around as our Booking Manager, but behind the scenes he’s also been hard at work as the club’s Assistant Secretary… very much helping keeping our current Secretary, Jayden, in check throughout the chaos of rehearsals!

Working alongside Front of House Manager and partner-in-crime Marney, Kieran has been helping keep everything running smoothly, from ticket lists and bookings to the countless behind-the-scenes jobs that audiences never see. Together, the pair have become Wick Players’ very own front of house dream team and fair to say not much gets past them.

A new but familiar face within the local drama scene, Kieran brings plenty of humour, patience, and organisation to the club. He might be behind the scenes for now, but, do you think we could we see him tread the boards soon?! 👀

✨MEET MARNEY✨

Marney is a well-known face within the Caithness drama scene and, while you may not spot her on stage this time around, she’ll be working her magic front of house for “The Wizard of Oz”. Taking on the role of Front of House Manager, Marney will be making sure audiences are welcomed into Kansas smoothly from the moment they arrive.

Alongside her partner-in-crime, Booking Manager Kieran Mackay, the pair have become Wick Players’ very own front of house wizards. Between ticket lists, seating plans, and keeping everything running like clockwork, they’re very much a force to be reckoned with.

While the cast may be causing chaos on stage, audiences can rest assured Marney and Kieran will have everything else firmly under control… probably with a cup of tea in hand too.

✨MEET OUR DANCERS✨

We are delighted to welcome seven talented dancers from Kirsty Bain School of Highland Dance, to the stage for our musical production.

These wonderful young performers will be appearing throughout a number of scenes in the show, bringing extra energy, colour, and magic to the Land of Oz with three specially choreographed dance routines. From dazzling performances to beautifully staged moments, their contribution is sure to make this year’s production even more unforgettable.

The routines are being choreographed by Elise Lyall, a familiar face to many of our audiences and someone who has been involved with numerous Wick Players productions over the years. Elise’s creativity, enthusiasm, and experience have helped shape these exciting dance numbers, and we are thrilled to have her working alongside us once again.

Collaborating with other local talent is always something we value greatly, and we are so excited to share the stage with these fantastic dancers 🌈

✨MEET THE FLYING MONKEYS✨

Now, you’ve already met these six faces… BUT did you know that as well as their small cameo Munchkinland roles, they will also be starring as the Wicked Witch of the West’s winged monkeys!

The beauty of “The Wizard of Oz” is that there are so many colourful characters, making it the perfect production for our wonderfully large cast. It gives everyone the chance to shine, take on multiple roles, and bring even more magic (and mayhem!) to the stage.

And trust us… these six are the PERFECT choices to swoop in, stir up trouble, and do the Wicked Witch’s bidding! 💚

✨MEET DAISY, EMILY & JESSICA✨

Daisy Mackenzie and Emily Forsyth return to the Wick Players stage following the endless fun they had during last year’s pantomime “Robinson Crusoe and the Pirates”. Joining them this year is another very welcome newcomer to the club, Jessica Niwa, who will be making her debut performance with Wick Players.

Together, the trio take on the charming cameo roles of the Lullaby League, and all three girls are incredibly excited to be part of the production. Bringing plenty of enthusiasm, confidence, and sparkle to rehearsals, they have quickly become a lovely addition to the cast.

With their sweet performances and colourful costumes, we’re sure audiences will agree that Daisy, Emily, and Jessica are the perfect fit for the Lullaby League.
