Inclusion and accessibility are really important to us at Whixley on Tap 🍻
Partly because Whixley on Tap is raising money for Spokey Dokey Badge Club, who support disabled children and young people, but also because we know how important access, community spaces and different individual needs can be.
The honest reality is that, even with all the will in the world, a small community event may not always be able to meet every individual need perfectly. But we do believe in making thoughtful adjustments, continuing to learn, and most importantly, sharing clear information so people can make informed choices about attending.
Here’s some information about the venue and facilities at Whixley on Tap:
🍻 The village hall has an access ramp and an accessible toilet
🍻 We do not currently have a full Changing Places facility. We’re exploring whether this may be possible for future events, so if this would help you or your family, please message us
🍻 Parking is limited, with mostly on-street parking or a short walk from nearby spaces
🍻 The festival field is cut grass and may be uneven in places
🍻 The outdoor stage can also be viewed from the tarmac area
🍻 Inside the hall there will be quieter ambient music, with live performances outdoors
🍻 We’ll have a quiet sensory room indoors and a quieter outdoor space available throughout the day
🍻 Volunteers in red Whixley on Tap t-shirts will be around all day and happy to help
🍻 Food and drinks will be served from standing-height counters
🍻 We do not currently have hearing loops or BSL interpretation available
🍻 Beer tasting notes will also be available in large print
