The under belly… I always post about the pretty colours but the underbelly of my loom is a little different from most, in that I use these “superhooks” to “tie-up” the pedals into the design I’m making. This design has taken all 12 pedals, each being “tied up” to four shafts in various configurations to make the design. I wear work gloves to do this and feel like a mechanic!

Most definitely the most complex warp I have ever counted out. 14 colours in all, wound in sets of 4 threads, 2 colours per set 5/2 mercerized cotton. 1196 threads in total. It’s going to be interesting 🤔. I’ve had to split my cones in order to deal with each colour. Oh! The tangles I have made!!

Next project, an interpretation of the Paul Klee painting “Fire in the Evening” 1929. I studied this painting while working on my thesis. The interpretation is from Handwoven, Sept/Oct 2005. Finding the mercerized cotton for this has been a challenge so I’ve had to find some different colours in places. Hope it works!
