Made it up to Thompson’s Rock on the Simonside Hills for the summer solstice last night. ☀️

Seeing the sunlight shine through the 5,000-year-old man-made hole in the stone was a pretty magical moment. It's just amazing to think our ancestors shaped it all those years ago !😵

Thursday group’s swallows… just taken aback at how easily you’ve all slipped into pastel mode!

SWALLOW FOLKLORE:

For centuries, swallows have appeared in folklore as symbols of hope, safe passage, renewal, and messages from the spirit world. Their annual return each spring was seen as a sign that life was stirring again after winter’s sleep, and in many traditions they were believed to carry blessings, guidance, and news between worlds.

Watching them swoop and dance through the air, it's easy to see why our ancestors paid such close attention to them.

Remember to look up and spend a little time observing birds in flight—they’re far more than just an “M” in the sky 😆.

There’s wisdom, wonder, and a little bit of magic in those wings if we take the time to notice. 🕊️✨

Much hilarity as we wandered & wove our way through creating swallow willow sculptures on Friday!

Some were a little enthusiastic, some a little ambitious, others a bit ‘tantrumy,’😆😉 but we got there in the end and had stacks of laughs along the way! Always good to try something new!

A huge thank you to Katherine from Nature Makers - North of Tyne for coming along and working with us - we had such a great time! 🙏
