🎉🐧 It’s a double birthday celebration at SEA LIFE Weymouth! 🐧🎉

Join us in wishing a very Happy Birthday to Lemon 🍋 and Lime 🍈, who are both celebrating their special day this week!

Born right here in Weymouth born to the parents of Bonsai and Apple, these two have grown into some of the cheekiest penguins in the colony.

Full of energy and always up to mischief, Lemon and Lime love splashing around, showing off to visitors, and causing a little chaos at feeding time! 🐟😆

In fact, if there's an opportunity to sneak an extra fish, you can bet Lemon and Lime will be first in line (and probably trying to jump the queue too!).

🐢💚 Happy World Sea Turtle Day! 💚🐢

Meet Josie and Sharky, two of our incredible turtle residents here at SEA LIFE Weymouth.

Both turtles came to us from the Florida Turtle Hospital after receiving treatment for injuries caused by boat strikes in the wild.

Their journeys are a powerful reminder of the challenges sea turtles face in our oceans every day.

You may notice weights attached to their shells — these help them maintain balance while swimming following their injuries, allowing them to live happy and healthy lives in our care.

SEA LIFE rescues, rehabilitates and releases many Sea Turtles each year which have been injured or lost their way.

This World Turtle Day, join us in celebrating these amazing survivors and learn more about how we can all help protect sea turtles and their ocean homes. 🌊🐢

🦞 Meet one of the UK's rarest native species – the White-clawed Crayfish!

These fascinating freshwater creatures are the UK's only native crayfish species, but sadly their populations have declined dramatically due to the spread of the invasive Signal Crayfish.

Signal Crayfish carry crayfish plague, a disease they are resistant to but which is devastating to our native White-clawed Crayfish populations.

🎉🐧 Happy 16th Birthday, Apple! 🐧🎉
Today we're celebrating a very special member of our colony — Apple, our female Humboldt penguin, who turns 16 years old today!

Apple holds a special place in our hearts as the oldest penguin at SEA LIFE Weymouth to have been born here. Over the years, she has become a much-loved part of the colony and has raised a family of her own with her partner, Bonsai. Keep an eye out and you might spot some of her offspring around the habitat, including Lemon, Lime and Peach. 💛💚🧡

If you've visited our penguins before, you may have noticed Apple showing off one of her favourite habits — standing proudly on the rocks, waiting to expertly catch her food! She's also often seen enjoying a swim around the pool, keeping a close eye on everything happening around her.

This year, however, Apple is spending her birthday doing something very important — nesting. 🪺

🌊World Oceans Day Update: Crush the Loggerhead Turtle 🌊

This World Oceans Day, we’re celebrating a very special ocean ambassador – Crush, our rescued loggerhead turtle.

After arriving into our care, Crush has continued to make fantastic progress and is doing really well behind the scenes. Our animal care team have been supporting recovery every step of the way, and we’re delighted with how far Crush has come.

The exciting news is that plans are now underway for Crush’s return to the wild. While there’s still work to do before release, every milestone brings them one step closer to heading back to the ocean. Crush now shares one of our largest quarantine tanks with another rescued Loggerhead turtle, having gained significant weight and strength since arriving.

Crush’s journey is a reminder of why protecting our oceans and marine wildlife is so important. Thank you to everyone who has followed Crush’s story and supported marine conservation.

🐧 Meet Chip! 🐧

Today is a very special day for our newest little fairy penguin, Chip, who is exactly 2 months old!

Born on 7th April 2026, Chip is the latest addition to our fairy penguin colony and is already stealing hearts.

Chip's proud parents, Violet and Twirl, have done an incredible job raising him. This is their 5th successful chick together, and Chip joins his four older siblings as part of this growing penguin family.

At the moment, Chip is still a little shy, but we're already seeing his personality begin to shine through.

As the days and weeks go by, we're sure his confidence will continue to grow, and he'll become an even more familiar face around the colony.

A huge thank you goes to Dave and the rest of our amazing Animal Care Team for their dedication and hard work caring for Chip and all of our fairy penguins.

Our Quiet at the Aquarium sessions are specially designed for our neurodiverse guests who prefer a more peaceful experience. 🌊
