As a mum of 2 cheeky chappies I am always looking for ways to enhance their imagination. Having heard about the elusive Fairy doors of Ann Abour in the US state of Michigan, I considered the idea of creating the same for my boys. I did my research, found my tools and created my first Rainbow Fairy/Borrower door. I planned on periodically moving the 6 inch door around the house so I carefully tacke
d it to the back of our front door and went to bed. I was hardly able to sleep I was that excited waiting for the boys to wake and find their new door. I awoke to my eldest dragging me out of bed
“mummy, mummy you have to come and look” A huge excited grin spread across his face
“what is it?” I said with butterflies in my tummy
“A little door, look who lives in there mummy?”
It was brilliant the chattering didn’t stop all day. It occurred to me the joy that I have brought to myself and the boys through creating a little bit of wonder was something I would like to provide for others. Each time I move the door I get the same reaction from the boys and they regularly open the door, just to check. There is of course no requirement to believe in Fairies, Goblins, Elves or even Borrowers just a belief in the magic of imagination and wonder to all ages. Whether you be buying for a child, a quirky moving gift or as a little bit fun and talking point in your own home I hope you will find the little doors charming. Each door will be individual, unique and one of a kind. Please ask any questions you wish via [email protected].
