💥Meet our DJs #5 Pete Stoner💥
Cancer survivor, Rave Awareness founder and Funky House Project cofounder, Pete Stoner is a Harrogate-based DJ & promoter whose love of house music began in the late 1980s after listening to cassette recordings from legendary raves such as Galactica and Fantazia, passed down by his older sister. A trip to Ibiza in 1997 inspired him to become a DJ, and he bought his first set of decks the following year.
Since then, Pete has played at venues across Yorkshire and beyond, including Ivory, Major Tom's, Mayfair, Revolution, Bar Med and Poh Nah Nah in Harrogate, Murray's Music Bar in Scarborough, The Black Bull in Brighouse, Revolution and Bar 42 in Leeds, Bar Med in Manchester, Club Habana in Tortosa, Spain, and Ibiza venues Itaca and Wiki Woo.

Pete is the founder and resident DJ of Rave Awareness, a charity house music event inspired by the values of the UK's rave scene—community, unity and looking after one another. The first Rave Awareness took place on 11 October 2025 at The Engine Shed, Wetherby, headlined by Andi Durrant, raising money for Mind and Diabetes UK.
After being diagnosed with tonsil cancer and cancer in a lymph node in his neck in 2018, Pete received incredible support from Macmillan Cancer Support while undergoing treatment. Having beaten cancer, this year's event is deeply personal. Rave Awareness Leeds will raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, but it also has another important mission—to encourage people to listen to their bodies, book a GP appointment if something doesn't feel right, get an early diagnosis, and begin treatment as soon as possible. If Rave Awareness inspires even one person to seek medical advice early, it could help save a life.
Pete is also the co-founder of Funky House Project, hosting events at Ivory, Major Tom's and Mayfair in Harrogate. He's a regular on Top Cat Radio and shares his mixes on Mixcloud and SoundCloud. When he's not behind the decks, Pete and his partner Emma can usually be found on the dancefloor at events including Love To Be, Aly & Fila, Sub Focus, Prodigy, Paul Van Dyk, Camelphat, RÜFÜS DU SOL, Above & Beyond and Creamfields.
Rave Awareness Leeds takes over Headrow House on Saturday 12 September 2026, from 4pm until midnight, featuring eight DJs across eight hours, a professional sound and lighting production, bass you can feel through the floor, huge psychedelic visuals, and a live guitarist performing alongside the opening DJ set. More than just a house music event, it's a celebration of rave culture with a purpose—raising money, raising awareness, and bringing people together through the music we all love.
