🎊 I am currently touring my solo storytelling show 'Tales for an Unruly Audience' with my company theatre across the south of England. It's a show that I love performing. It combines storytelling and audience participation in a way that encourages the audience to be mischievous. We have 20 confetti cannons that we give to audience members and they shoot me with them.
🤡 I have always loved entertaining and making people laugh. I was the class clown at school. Thankfully I had teachers and mentors who were encouraging and signposted me to the local youth theatre, Forest Forge Theatre Company, where I was able to really flourish.
💪 Things I’m proud of:
1. Graduating from drama school during the height of the pandemic and building a successful career over the next 6 years
2. Travel to Poland, Norway, Greece, Denmark and Italy with work, working with exceptional collaborators and theatre companies
3. Self-Producing ‘Tales from an Unruly Audience’, which since starting in 2020 has receive 5-star reviews, award nominations and toured both the UK and internationally
4. Making 20 reusable confetti cannons from scratch to use in performances
🏫 To me, teaching and performing are not much different. They both require improvisation, both need you to ‘know the lines’, and for both you need to be able to stand in front of an audience of people (large or small) and capture their imagination. I would say playfulness and empathy are both hugely important.
