Sue Fell Artist Painter in oils. I also do 2D needlefelting I started oil painting at evening class eight years ago, I loved it from the word go.

I've always been "arty" but only now am I've had the opportunity to fully get into it. I exhibit regularly locally and am a Committee member of the Carlisle and Cumbria Art Society.

Stewarding at the Carlisle and Cumbria Artists Summer Exhibition. It's in my favourite exhibition place, the 14th century Cathedral Fratry. Love that place, it oozes history (it has lots of rare and ancient books in cabinets) and has a welcoming atmosphere. The exhibition ends on August 18th so there's plenty of time to look around at the work of local artists including me!

Pleased to say l sold my painting Tawny Owl 2 at the Cumbria Local Arts Exhibition in Grasmere. A good start to the art exhibition season for me! I always wonder where my paintings end up, occasionally one sells when I'm stewarding and I know, but usually they quietly disappear to their new homes. l am always grateful to those who spend their hard earned cash on my work.

After a long gap I'm back with a new painting, Tawny Owl 2. I love painting tawnys, they are so beautiful and I love the patterns their feathers make. And who can resist an owl's face? Went to Manchester to see the David Hockney Immersive Experience, it was so, so good. I've always liked his work and this was presented with music and a voice over by Hockney himself. As an artist I found it fascinating how he found art in music, photography and his views on perspective all on his own terms. Seeing each stage of how he puts together a painting is fascinating. I often saw touches of a van Gogh influence in his work too. Well worth seeing.

That's the exhibition finished, I'm pleased to say I sold my painting of Siena and and some cards. Very happy with that 🙂. I was told the person who bought it loved the colour and brightness of it. I really must get busy painting during the winter now!

The free Carlisle and Border Art Society exhibition is on! Lots fabulous original artwork in all genres at reasonable prices, including mine. Exhibition on from 10am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday at Wetheral Community Hall. A cuppa and homemade cake available. What's not to love? Come along!
