Hi Everyone,

We’re making a few changes to our drama classes.

Our 55+ Drama Group will continue as usual on Wednesdays from 3pm–5pm.

Our other drama classes will pause until October. Feedback suggests that participants would like to work towards specific projects, showcases or a full production, so we’re taking some time to plan the next steps.

We’ll be back in touch once our directors have chosen the projects, with full details of what’s coming up and how you can take part.

Thank you for your patience and continued support.

Best wishes,
The Blakehay Theatre

Del Amitri's Justin Currie & Iain Harvie announce intimate new spoken-word tour

Del Amitri founding members Justin Currie and Iain Harvie are hitting the road for an intimate and unscripted evening of conversation.

The brand-new tour, featuring storytelling and reflection, is titled Del Amitri – 45 Years Of Modest Failure: An Evening of Conversation with Justin Currie & Iain Harvie – a nod to the band’s dry wit.

The tour kicks off on March 18, 2027, at Kidderminster Town Hall, and concludes on June 20 in Bude’s North Coast Arts. The tour includes six nights in the band’s native Scotland.

As the driving creative force behind hits such as Roll to Me, Always the Last To Know, and Nothing Ever Happens, singer Justin and guitarist Iain have shared more than four decades of songwriting, world tours, and band history.

Now they are stepping away from the amps to share candid, hilarious, poignant, and sometimes absurd tales from life on the road and inside the studio. From their early Glasgow origins to international stardom, audiences will discover the true stories behind the music, the triumphs, and the challenges that shaped one of Scotland's most enduring rock bands.

The second half of the show belongs to fans, who can bring their burning questions for a live, interactive Q&A session where no topic is off-limits. Expect razor-sharp Scottish wit, honest insights, and a warm, unforgettable encounter with two music icons.

Justin says: “Having ventured into book tour world last year I was amazed by how enjoyable and heartwarming an evening of conversation with Del Amitri’s audience could be. After years of rubbish stage patter, it felt like a release to be able to open up a little and have time to engage directly with people, if not breaking the fourth wall, then certainly installing a service hatch. We look forward to seeing where the questions and conversations take us each night, no subject matter out of bounds except for what the name means.”

Tickets go on sale tomorrow (Friday, September 11) at 10am. Full dates at

Unusual request time… 😂

We need another one of these chairs for our Evening With events.

Does someone you know have one that, quite frankly, they could live without?

Could you save the day and lend us your chair every now and again?

We’d look after it very carefully, and as an added bonus, someone famous’s bum will have sat in it, which can forever be your slightly ridiculous claim to fame 😂

If you’ve got one lurking please give us a shout.

We are happy to rent, but or swap tickets for it.

PS We don’t want to buy one as it will be all shiny and new looking 😂

Blimey. It’s been a whole year! 🎭❤️

One year ago, we were handed the keys to the Blakehay and began a new chapter for this lovely little theatre.

And what a year it’s been.

The stage has been busier, thousands of tickets have been sold and we’ve welcomed a truly amazing mix of music, comedy, theatre, talks, family shows, local groups and touring performers.

There have been sell-outs, standing ovations, plenty of laughter and some really really special nights.

But probably the loveliest part has been seeing people coming back through the doors.

People who hadn’t been to the Blakehay for years. People discovering us for the first time. People taking a chance on a show they’d never heard of and coming out asking what they should book next.

Slowly but surely, this little theatre has come properly back to life. ❤️

And we’re only getting started.

The 27/28 diary is filling up, there are loads more ideas bubbling away and plenty more we want to do over the next twelve months.

So on our first anniversary, mostly we just want to say thank you.

Thank you to every performer who has stepped onto our stage, everyone who has worked or volunteered here, every promoter who has taken a chance on us (you know who you are) and every single person who has bought a ticket, shared a post, told a friend or supported the Blakehay in any way.

A theatre is nothing without people filling it.

You’ve done that.

Happy first anniversary to the new Blakehay. 🎭❤️

Right then… year two!

The clip is the wonderful Melanie Pain from Nouvelle Vague, who was with us for Valentines Day, and was the first act we booked when we took over 💖💖💖
