Could you help shape the future of Community Scrapstore North Somerset? ♻️

Community Scrapstore North Somerset is looking for new trustees to join its team and help the charity grow sustainably over the next few years.

The Scrapstore does brilliant work turning surplus and clean waste from local businesses into affordable materials for creativity, play and reuse — keeping things out of landfill while supporting local people, schools and community groups.

They’re particularly keen to hear from people with skills or experience in fundraising, compliance, education and events, and they’re also looking for a Treasurer.

You don’t need to have been a trustee before. What matters is having useful skills, a bit of time to give and an interest in helping a much-loved local charity develop.

The trustees meet monthly and the expected commitment is around 8–10 hours a month, with the chance to get involved in individual projects if you want to.

Potential new trustees can also join meetings for three months first, before making a final commitment, so there’s a chance to get to know the organisation and see whether it’s right for you.

🎨 Do you run art, craft or other table-based activities?

We’ve got a lovely craft table at The Stable that can be used completely free of charge, Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 3pm.

It’s best suited to small groups of around 6–8 people maximum, and to activities that are fairly tidy and table-based rather than anything super messy.

So think knitting, crochet, drawing, card making, journalling, model making, colouring, craft groups and similar activities.

There’s no room hire fee, just bring your activity and your people ❤️

Our café is open while you’re here too, so people can grab a drink or some lunch if they fancy it.

If you’d like to use the table, send us a message and we’ll get you booked in.

Think Sandwich No. 1 style, but at The Stable.

We’ll have baguettes, jacket potatoes, quiche and salad boxes, and you can basically build yours how you like it from the bits on the counter.

Choose what you want, mix and match, eat in or take it away.

Nice, simple lunch food, without making it complicated 😂

And for September, Weston College staff can get 50% off too.

So if you work at the college, this is probably the month to come and give us a try!

Blimey! That was a busy night 😂

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us for our opening night. We were completely sold out!

And we’ve already got advance bookings right through until Christmas, so I guess the message is… if you’re thinking about a Christmas party, book it ASAP 😂😂😂

These lovely people were our very first table of the night, and it was even one of their birthdays, so they got to properly christen the place for us 🥂🧀

Honestly, we couldn’t have asked for a better first night. Thank you ❤️

Something new is coming to The Stable.

On Saturday 5th September, we will open our Cheese & W**e Bar for the very first time.

The idea is simple, beautiful cheese boards, carefully selected wines and drinks, and a relaxed place to spend an evening.

At the heart of the menu will be our Pick & Mix Boards.

Choose an Individual Board – £12.95 or a Sharing Board – £24.95, available as Cheese, Cheese & Charcuterie, or Vegan.

Each board is then yours to create, with a changing selection of fresh and dried fruits, olives, pickles, nuts, crackers and accompaniments. We’ll begin with honey, chutney and quince, with new flavours and combinations appearing regularly.

We’ve been just as particular about what you’ll find behind the bar.

Our wines have been hand-picked with The W**e Shop IPAs from pinkerscraftbrewery, c***r from barleywoodc***r, gins from Bristol Distilling Co and beautiful alcohol-free aperitifs from Drinks Kitchen. Alongside our wider drinks menu.

And for those who want to linger a little longer, there’ll be a small selection of sweet treats, including brownies, to finish.

The menu will be deliberately small and ever-changing, giving us the freedom to choose things we love and introduce something new each time you visit.

In the last hour a local business has decided to dump their catering waste on our bins. Gastro trays and all. This is a new one on us. We are used to our bins being filled with other people’s rubbish and having to tidy up around them, but when a local business thinks it’s ok to put on a not for profit community organisation, that kinda takes the p.

Bins are charged by weight.

We have CCTV so we will be checking it.

It would be lovely if you came and got your burgers please!
