A First‑Ever United Trail Brings Art and Heritage Together on Mersea Island

This May marks a defining moment for Mersea Island as the Mersea Art Collective, Mersea Museum, and the Essex Heritage Workboats Mersea Hub unite for the first time to deliver a single, island celebration.

Running from 23–25 May, the new Mersea Art Collective Trail invites residents and visitors to explore an experience that blends contemporary creativity with the island’s rich maritime history. This unprecedented collaboration creates a cohesive, expanded trail, more ambitious, more vibrant, and more deeply rooted in Mersea’s identity than ever seen before.

We enjoyed a wonderful evening of original art, community spirit and Winter cheer yesterday evening in The Oyster Gallery for our 'Festive Christmas Shopping Evening'. Chrissie Westgate was signing copies of her lovely new book 'Windsong', the conversation was good, the atmosphere warm, and the mulled wine and nibbles went down a treat. A big thank you to all who came, and if you haven't been in yet the exhibition continues so do pop in and have a look, there are loads of original, handmade gift ideas.
