The Photographic Theorist

The Photographic Theorist An arts-based rebellion. A feminist creative resistance. Camille immigrated to the United Kingdom in 2005 to enhance her career in criminal justice.

"Stereotyping is a kind of blindfold that enables many to ignore the fact that the marginalised and highly stigmatised are first and foremost people, individual human beings like everyone else." Born in Melbourne and raised in Shepparton, her father, a highly decorated Vietnam War hero, died serving on duty as a Detective when she was a baby; her mother raised her with her three older sisters in t

he Australian countryside. Camille graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in biological sciences from La Trobe University in 1997, and graduated with postgraduate studies in criminology from the University of Melbourne in 1999. After a successful career working in community correctional services that began in 1999, she managed complex community-based offender rehabilitation programs, including the s*x offenders' register, and wrote ministerial briefing papers and reports for justice commissioners. In 2007 she resigned from working with young offenders to pursue a less institutionally defined career as a freelance photographer. In 2009 she was shortlisted for the Royal Academy of Art summer exhibition for her Berlin street photography. Camille is a survivor of childhood s*xual violence and child prostituion (1990 - 1997). In 2000 she was awarded compensation for the s*xual violence she endured. In 2022 she underwent a unilateral mastectomy. She currently resides in the United Kindom.

Spanish photographer Txema Salvans captures an unlikely and unique view of prostitution happening in urban and rural roadside locations along Spain's Meditarranean coast in The Waiting Game. Collected over a period of six years, these images are remarkably intriguing. Blending into the surrounding s...

Ethics still apply when you are photographing s*x workers, if you feel the need to stick your c**k in whilst photographing s*x workers then I suggest making a shot of Depo Provera an essential part of your photography kit, right next to that cheap kit lens.
