The People’s Orchestra is a Midlands based music charity with an overriding vision to share the fun of music-making and keep people playing and singing music. The charity helps unemployed people back into work through its award-winning programme of work experience placements, education programmes and
community outreach work, being awarded The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in June 2021. The People’s Orchestra ensembles include:
1. The People’s Orchestra:
One of the leading community orchestras in the country for advanced musicians aged 14+ years old. It is known for its exciting repertoire celebrating the world of film, games, popular classical music, TV and show music. The orchestra represents musicians from every socio-economic and ethnic background coming together to share the joy of music-making.
2. The Rusty Players Orchestra:
An orchestra for anyone who wants to play music but hasn’t played for some time or is new to playing an instrument. There are now Rusty Orchestras in; South Birmingham and Carmarthen. Check out our separate Rusty page for more information:

3. The People’s Big Band:

4. The People’s Show Choir:
Open to all ages and abilities, this is a growing network of community choirs around the country for anyone who enjoys singing and would like to join a friendly choir. Performing well-loved songs from stage and screen, no previous singing experience is necessary, and all adults and children aged 9 and upwards are welcome. There are now show choirs in Central Birmingham, South Birmingham, Brackley, West Bromwich, Cheltenham and Halesowen.
