Never before have so many young people been inspired to pick up a guitar, had the tools to record their own songs, the resources to learn & the self belief to follow their dreams. Nottingham has an exciting, flourishing & recognised music scene, and though we are in no way short on talent & ability, what we all constantly need more of is encouragement & opportunity. Launching March 2013, 'Rock The

Mic' is a fresh new open mic night aimed especially at young people. Whether you've never played in front of anyone before or can wrap a crowd round your little finger, whether you love to sing, play, rap or rhyme, this is your stage. We want to encourage you young songwriters to play the music you've written, and if you have been inspired by your faith this a safe place for you to share your lyrics.

'Rock The Mic' is hosted by The Rock Church in West Bridgford… a vibrant, edgy & enthusiastic local church who are passionate about young people. Big thanks to everyone who came down to 'Rock The Mic' last week at the Monkey Tree. Had a great night, thanks to amazing performances from Sammy G, Katie Cooper, Alice Hyde, Sophie Meacham, Nina, Becky Plant and Kingslee Clarke... who blew us all away once again !

Will be posting videos in the near future but pretty busy for the next couple of weeks so will do what i can when i can. Also, made some cool contacts recently which could make the future for Rock The Mic very interesting... especially if you 're looking to get in the studio or looking for bigger exposure.

So keep em pealed & spread the word so we can make the next one even better. Peace, J

Hey all you young musicians and singer out there... we still have a couple of slots left to perform at this months 'Rock The Mic' on Sept 15th at the Monkey Tree in West Bridgford.

If you've been writing your own songs or just want the chance to sing your favourite cover, then get in touch. The night is totally aimed at encouraging you on your journey as a performers, always helped by our enthusiastic audience and our heart to see you grow !

We have a couple of slots free this Saturday afternoon on an outdoor charity event being held in Ruddington. Should be a good number of people there so a great opportunity to sing 2 or 3 songs. You can use backing tracks or play guitar etc. your choice. If you want to perform, get in touch super ASAP !! Love J x

I invited one of my dear friends, Chris Hyde, to come and share his wonderful talent with us. Even though he's a busy gigging musician with his own band 'Funkified', i'm pretty sure it was his first time in front of an audience playing one of his own songs. That's what Rock The Mic's all about, giving people a chance to get out of their comfort zones ! Well done Chris, awesome song :)
