Unusually for me now this painting is on canvas rather than on board. I find I do have to give up some control. Detail is harder to manage so it’s best to make this into a positive, consentrate on capturing the feeling rather than get hung up on the detail. The result is one I am pleased with and really evokes a particular sensation I have exploring Chilterns woodscapes.

Delighted to add two of my paintings to Fitch and Fellows Susannah Fellows A perfect… I was going to say gallery, but it’s much more than paintings, they have a fantastic array of 3d goodies with ceramics , sculptures, glass, wood, leather, textiles and jewlery.

I’ve been shamefully poor at posting recently. I my defence I have been working hard to get some pieces done. Also I went to the RA summer exhibition, very interesting, a lot to look at and surprisingly few that I would actually covert. I think for me one painting was Above as below by Alison Harper. I am thinking of applying next year. This would be a good painting maybe. Perhaps I should hold it back?

Properly back to work after Buck art weeks. And thanks to everyone who came and especially thanks to everyone who now own some Twelftree artwork. I’m doing my best to make my work more valuable and I have plans for July including some commissions and a really big work, my biggest yet.

Part of the joy of our spring landscapes are the wonderful sweep of the most intense yellow when the rapeseed fields bloom. But I ve always struggled with the overwhelming intensity of the colour. I just failed to make it work. I’ll keep trying, and I think in this glimpse through the trees I am finally getting somewhere. It started this way with bluebells too.

There is a buzz among artists in and around Wendover. This weekend will be the second Wendover Art Festival and my first. It’s next weekend and will be a virtuoso of talent, a really amazing group. I will be exhibiting three of these four. All new works from this year.
