If youโ€™re discovering us for the first time, weโ€™re delighted to share what WOWFest (Wells Orchestral Weekend) is all about.

Launched in 2018 by The International Music Exchange under the patronage of conductor Charles Hazlewood, weโ€™re a biennial festival bringing music and musicians to the beautiful medieval streets of Wells, providing superb concert opportunities and an unforgettable cultural experience for performers and audiences alike.

We welcome youth ensembles from all corners of the globe to Englandโ€™s smallest city for an intense weekend of workshops, concerts and fun social activities. Eighteen ensembles from all corners of the globe have taken part so far, ranging from symphony orchestras to jazz collectives, choirs and concert bands. They perform joint and solo concerts in iconic venues including the beautiful 12th-century Wells Cathedral, the moated The Bishop's Palace & Gardens and the state-of-the-art Cedars Hall. Participating musicians also have the chance to explore nearby cities and heritage sites and take part in an English Ceilidh and barbecue on the final evening.

WOWFest 2026 takes place from Friday 10th to Monday 13th July, kicking off with a stunning Opening Ceremony at Cedars Hall on Friday at 3pm.

This year, weโ€™re welcoming 150 young people from Brazil, the Netherlands, Ireland and the USA. On Saturday evening theyโ€™ll be joined by a further 150 local musicians and singers for a spectacular performance in Wells Cathedral of Carl Orffโ€™s CARMINA BURANA.

Follow for updates as we introduce the ensembles and share more about whatโ€™s coming this summer, plus details of WOWFest Fringe concerts taking place across Somerset in June and July.

๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ If you canโ€™t wait, the full festival programme is now available on our website and here on Facebook. Check out our events section. Concerts are free with retiring donations unless otherwise stated on the event.
