🚨 THE BELL POWER SAGA — FINAL UPDATE FOR TONIGHT 🚨
Well… this has escalated spectacularly.
ScottishPoScottishPowerconfirmed in writing that:
⚡ Our normal credit has run out.
⚡ We are currently surviving on £10 emergency credit.
⚡ Friendly Credit is NOT active on the meter.
⚡ When the emergency credit runs out, the pub may be disconnected.
⚡ And, brilliantly, they have confirmed they are unable to do anything about it tonight.
So, to recap today’s adventure…
A prepayment meter was installed following action relating to the previous occupier’s account, before our new account had been properly registered.
We can’t top it up.
We’ve spent HOURS on the phone and webchat trying to stop exactly this happening.
The power has already gone off once today, we’ve had to turn customers away, and we’ve repeatedly explained that we have thousands of pounds of refrigerated stock sitting in the building.
Their solution?
“If the supply is disconnected, please contact us tomorrow morning.”
😂😂😂
We have provided everything we possibly can tonight to establish the new account and will continue trying to get this resolved first thing tomorrow.
In the meantime, The Bell is currently running on the electrical equivalent of finding 20p down the back of the sofa.
So if you see Big Rich cooking breakfast over a candle tomorrow morning, please don’t ask for your eggs well done.
Huge apologies to anyone affected today. We’re doing absolutely everything we can to keep the lights, fridges, kitchen and pub running.
And to ScottishPower:
Please, for the love of God, just let us buy some electricity. ⚡🤦♂️
