Dorena Verne’s ongoing portrait series is an exploration of identity as lived practice.

Through the disciplined, iterative rendering of a single figure—her imagined and rightful self—Verne examines the intertwined dynamics of gender, power, and visibility. The work’s provocation lies not in spectacle, but in its unwavering assertion of personhood within a cultural landscape that continues to contest it. Each image reflects a synthesis of technical mastery and autobiographical inquiry, revealing a visual language shaped by resilience, clarity, and intention.

This exhibition presents a body of work grounded in craft and conviction, inviting viewers to engage with an artist who transforms self‑representation into a form of truth‑telling.

Champagne, hors d'oeuvres, and gourmet coffee to be catered by the Chronic Cat Cafe and the Pot Pie Bakery. There is no dress code, however, we all love an opportunity to dress up! One rule: You can wear pearls, but no *clutching* of them. 😎 Curated music brought to you by Xenon Darrow - in the genres of chill, triphop, and classics.
